What a day of training today at SMAA!
First, I want to give a huge shoutout to Heteng Zhang! Heteng traveled over 3,100 km from Edmonton, Alberta, all the way to London, Ontario, to train with me in person. He is doing two 90-minute private lessons per day for three consecutive days, and today we definitely put in the work. Over the course of three hours of training, we covered Delayed Sword, Sword of Destruction, Blocking Set 1, Short Form 1, Long Form 1, Kicking Set 1, Coordination Set 1, B1a, B2a, B3a, B4a, and all 24 Green Belt Techniques. And trust me, it was hot in London, Ontario, today! Despite the heat and the intensity of the training, Heteng kept pushing and giving it his all. Traveling over 3,100 km just to train in person shows an incredible level of dedication and commitment. Heteng is the man!
Second, in the evening, I taught a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class at Sherbourne Martial Arts Academy. We covered two cross chokes from the kneeling position, four collar choke defenses from the kneeling position, two cross chokes from the closed guard, a counter to the cross choke from the closed guard, and the baseball bat choke from side mount to knee on belly. The class finished with three consecutive rolls.
From three hours of intense private training in the morning and afternoon to another hour of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the evening, it was a long and productive day on the mats. These are the kinds of days that remind me why I love martial arts so much.
