This Saturday, August 22, the City of London is bringing an Outdoor Movie Night featuring Detective Pikachu to Mornington Park—right here in our neighbourhood!

⏰ Movie begins at dusk (usually between 8–9 PM)
🎟️ Free admission — no registration required!

Preparing for Kindergarten Tip #2

👟Your child will need to take a pair of “indoor shoes” to leave at school.

👟Make sure your child has practiced putting them on by themselves.

Also - please clearly label them!

Get Ready for School Tips🏫

What school supplies does your child need for the first day of school?
Honestly, not much.

Unless you have already been contacted by your child's teacher with a list of needed supplies, which is unlikely, save yourself the trouble, and wait to buy school supplies.

For the first day of school, your child will need the following:
🎒backpack
🎒lunch pail
🎒reusable water bottle
🎒a pair of indoor shoes
🎒box of tissues (optional, but no teacher is going to refuse a box of tissues for the classroom🙂)

DON'T FORGET TO LABEL EVERYTHING!

Some teachers will send home a list of suggested supplies your child might need at school, so it's best to wait for that list.

Preparing for Kindergarten Tip #1

Back to school is just over a few weeks away, so here are some tips to prepare your kindergarten child for their big debut⭐️

Start using their lunch containers now!
🎒At least once a week serve them a lunch they are likely to have at school, in the containers they will be using.
🎒 This will get them familiar with opening the containers on their own.
🎒 Don’t forget to label the containers with their names so they become familiar with recognizing them.
🎒 Lord Elgin is on a balanced day schedule. Which means that there will be 2 nutrition breaks, so you might want to start thinking about how you will pack their lunches so that they know to save something for their afternoon nutrition break.

Come celebrate the end of summer with your neighbours at Ed Blake Summer Movie Night! 🍿🎬
Activities for all ages begin at 4:00 PM, with the movie starting at sundown. We’ll be showing the live-action Lilo & Stitch on the big screen.
Throughout the evening, community partners will be there to share information about the programs, services, and supports they offer, along with activities for the whole family. There will also be lots of great prizes for the whole family!
Hosted by NELCE - North East London Community Engagement London InterCommunity Health Centre, and Family Centre Carling-Thames, in collaboration with the City of London and NeighbourGood London, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a summer evening, get to know your neighbours, and connect with local organizations.
Bring your own chairs, blankets, and snacks, and come ready for a fun evening with the community. Everyone is welcome!
