My home has been, and is continuing to be a place of gathering where all are welcome so it just made sense to use that name for my page. I moved to Logan Lake in July 2021 and am loving every minute of it. I spend most of my weekends teaching, and most of my weekdays in the woods hiking/ foraging/ hunting with my dog. It is a passion of mine to share what I learn, and I have the privilege of being
certified to teach the CFSC/CRFSC (PAL and RPAL) and the CORE programs. I have been delivering these courses for many years, and it's still something I enjoy very much. I am extending the courses I offer as I see needs in my community. For example, I was asked by the BCWF to create a Wilderness Safety course, and it was so well received, that I decided to offer it to my students. I'm also a certified First Aid Instructor with the Red Cross. This is very close to my heart as I was a Medic in the Canadian Army Reserve, and have acted as a Good Samaritan on diverse accidents many times. It is my opinion that everyone should have some basic knowledge of First Aid and I want to empower as many people as I can in being able to help in situations of emergencies. What I think makes my teaching style so approachable is that I do have university education in pedagogy, where my areas of interests were teaching adults, and teaching students who are living with learning disabilities. I have many strategies to share with those who didn't have a lot of success in the school systems. I also have diverse life experience that I can draw from. This enriches my knowledge, and how I deliver it to my students.
