"Hi, I'm a crane fly, often mistaken for a giant mosquito. Sadly, many people don’t know the truth about me, and because of ignorance, my life was taken even though I pose no harm. I don’t bite, I don’t drink blood, and I don’t spread disease. In fact, I bring you more benefits than you think.

As a larva, I spend my time underground breaking down leaves and enriching the soil. This small but important role helps recycle nutrients and keep plants healthy. Without me and others like me, the balance of nature would be weaker.

When I become an adult, my life is very short, just days or weeks. Some of us don’t even eat, while others sip nectar or water. Sometimes, we even help with pollination, carrying pollen on our fragile bodies. It may not be much, but it matters.

Despite my clumsy flight, I’m part of the food chain too. Birds, bats, spiders, and fish depend on me for survival. So next time you see me, I hope you’ll remember, I am not your enemy. I am just a quiet helper of nature with a small but meaningful purpose."

During the filming of Yellowstone, one of Kevin Costner’s most emotional moments came when he had to say goodbye to his trusted horse, a companion that had been by his side for many seasons. The bond between them had grown deep, as the horse wasn’t just part of the show, but part of his journey as John Dutton.

With tears in his eyes, Kevin whispered, “You’ve been with me through thick and thin. I’ll never forget the moments we had.” For him, this was more than a farewell to an animal. It was saying goodbye to a partner who had carried both him and his character through the heart of the story.

After Kevin left, the horse began to act strange. He refused his food, paced back and forth in his stall, and pinned his ears when others tried to approach. Normally calm and steady, he now stood with his head low, eyes dull, as if he had lost his spark. The crew noticed the change and told Kevin, who quietly returned. He stood beside the horse, stroked his mane, and softly said, “We’re gonna be okay.”

The horse leaned into him and soon started eating again. Day by day, he returned to his old self. Their bond was not just part of the show. It was real, built on trust, and it went deeper than words.

We Need to Start Caring More About Mom After She Gives Birth A doctor entered my room and asked “How many feeds has he had?” while I wiped my tears because I was struggling. | I couldn’t get the damn piranha to latch. She hadn’t noticed I had been crying and told me she’d be back later to help me. She never came...

This is a little bit of a family tradition here, to share that which you are grateful for at Thanksgiving. I am very GRATEFUL this year, feel free to share what you are grateful for.

Yesterday was our family Thanksgiving time together. Since I was a little girl, we always shared what we were thankful for. This year we had many topics to be grateful for to share with each other. In being transparent here are my thankful moments this year!

1) My family: I would not be the person I am today without all of you. xoxoxo So happy to welcome two new members to our family this year.

2) My families in care: I am very grateful and honoured to be present in these moments in time with your children and your family.

3) Friends and Peers: Natasha Kocher, RECE you inspire me every day. My Red Tent sisters have watched me succeed, seen me fall and helped me rise again. I love you all to the moon and back. xoxoxo

4) Professional accountability: Being a RECE and the journey becoming an ECE has transformed me. I am very grateful to all my profs at Conestoga College, the College of ECE, my mentors and the Region of Waterloo.

5) The essentials of life: food, shelter, love and animals

6) My pets: Bandit, (Nova, Mocha my sons pets,) Little Bear and Toby. They make my life complete, I could not imagine life without these darlings. My Horse Toby saved me as much as I adopted and saved him. xoxoxo

7) My surgery: I am grateful to be healthy and moving forward in this life on a stronger footing.

8) Nature: In my journey to a healthier self, I am moving to a more natural way of life. I love how this has impacted on my Daycare as well.

9) My Social Media following: I am grateful to all who follow my FB business pages Lesley Cressman, RECE, Faery Childcare and A Sacred Journey, my Instagram and LinkedIn page. I am honoured to have some many people interested in our process.

10) Freedom: I am grateful to live in a country and time where freedom is a right. It may not be perfect, but it is better then what once was. So I am taking it as a win!

I am sure I am forgetting things to be grateful for... Please feel free to share what you are grateful for in the comments.
