Shared today in the Ontario group, after a teacher asked about units.
Le sigh

I taught Core French and Immersion for 22 years and never did units. Since French was mandated teaching in the Ontario in the mid 1970s, teachers have been creating units and focusing on grammar. Then publishing companies took over and created material based on units. School boards bought these unit programs and we continued on! Time after time again, student success in French struggled. Grammar based approach, units did not work. And here, 70 years later, we are still doing the same thing. Definition of insanity.
In 2002 I was introduced to AIM and I was immediately intrigued because it was a huge paradigm shift. It was the exact opposite of how I learned French as an Anglophone in a Core French program. I knew immediately that this was what I needed as a teacher to teach French.
