An annual online academic enrichment competition for grade 6 and grade 8 students

The Canadian Scholastic Achievement League was formed by a committee of middle school teachers who organized and operated a local annual competition, for the purpose of challenging their students to demonstrate knowledge and thinking skills, and to recognize and reward academic excellence. The "contest" evolved into a province wide competition in Ontario in 1997, and grew to become nation wide in 1998.

Scholastic Challenge 2024

The Canadian Scholastic Achievement League extends to you an invitation to enter your students in Scholastic Challenge 2024 taking place online in February and March, 2024. For the past twenty-eight years, grade eight students have been provided with an entertaining and challenging enrichment activity that allows them to demonstrate a variety of problem solving skills and knowledge in many academic areas. Thirteen years ago, we added a second division that is designed to academically challenge students in grade six.

Your students will enjoy competing in our online competition with other grade eight or grade six students from all regions of Canada. They will be able to compete as individuals and also as members of your school's team in a unique, interesting, and educational program.

Trophies, plaques, medals and certificates will be awarded for achievement in individual and school team categories in both the grade six and grade eight divisions.

To register your grade six or grade eight students, or both, please select the grade appropriate Teacher Registration link from our navigation above, and complete and submit by December 15, 2023.

It is our hope that Scholastic Challenge 2024 will stimulate your students' quest for knowledge and provide them with the joy and satisfaction of meeting new academic challenges.

We look forward to your participation.

Scholastic Challenge 2020 Pandemic Update

As of today, we have all scores in the system, have identified awards winners, and have submitted names for engraving. Normally we would have packaged and mailed results by the first or second week of April. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, our supply chain of medals, certificates, and trophies has been upended, and it appears as though many schools may not reopen this school year. Therefore we have emailed all schools their student scores, but will not send awards packages and trophy boxes until early September, when hopefully, all schools will have reopened and will be able to receive our mailing.

Please note the following:

1. We have emailed the contest questions with answers to each participating school on Monday, April 27.

2. We have emailed student scores and our final letter with winners' names to all participating schools.

3. We will post national and state champions names to our website archives at the end of June. Some schools will be holding virtual awards assemblies, giving teachers a chance to acknowledge students and their awards. Hopefully other teachers have a way of communicating contest results to their students even though many schools will be closed.

4. Teachers changing schools should provide us with an updated address so that we may direct the results package to the appropriate address.

We thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe and continue the great work you do for your students, your school, and your community.
