After reading the story “Ten Apples on Top,” our EEP students had fun bringing the story to life!

Today we recognized Orange Shirt day. There were many activities to acknowledge National Day for Truth and Reconciliation around our school.

Students from all grades were given the opportunity to write a word or short message on orange ribbons which were later attached to our school’s fence as a visual reminder of our school’s collective commitment to remember and learn together.

Mrs. Harris’ class made orange handprint hearts and then wrote “Every child matters” on them.

Our Grade 5s talked about how we can work together towards reconciliation. They also learned about Métis dot art.

There is no school tomorrow in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Classes resume on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, Lethbridge School Division and Galbraith Elementary will host an open house to provide more information regarding the planned replacement school project. Members of the public are encouraged to stop by anytime between 7-8:30 p.m.

This year, our Wellness learning is focused on bringing our school-wide mission to life:

Throughout the year, students will explore six beliefs that help us build a welcoming, safe and respectful school community. Our first belief is a very important one:

Students are learning what belonging looks like, sounds like and feels like, and how each of us can help others know that they have a place in our school community.

Last Friday, we held our annual Terry Fox Run. We started off with an assembly featuring a special guest speaker, Mrs. Andreachuk. Mrs. Andreachuk was a teacher in Lethbridge School Division for 39 years before her retirement, and she also happens to be Mr. Andreachuk's mom! She told us stories of meeting Terry Fox's dad, being part of the first Terry Fox Run held in a Lethbridge school, her own courageous battle with cancer a few years back, and the way that money raised in events like the Terry Fox Run helps fund research that allows for better cancer treatments. Following her beautiful presentation, we all went outside to complete our run.

In the week leading up to the run, we held our Toonies for Terry campaign. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this. We were able to raise $340.95! We also send a big thank you to Mrs. Andreachuk for sharing her time and stories with us!

Galbraith School would like to celebrate some of the great things our students are doing or involved with in our community outside of school. Examples could include things like volunteering, karate, soccer, hockey, horseback riding, dance, gymnastics, piano lessons etc. Submit your photos and details to Mr. Gibbon and we will do our best to highlight these kiddos on our bulletin board outside the office every month.
