U of L Human Resource Management Club

Hello new & returning students and welcome to a new school year!
The previous executive team members have now all graduated or moved on, so if anyone is interested in taking over this club, please contact Samantha Tams Betts!

There are ample funds left in the bank account for the new team to host a few events (plus you would also be eligible for new funding through the ULSU & DSB). All the documents are available in a digital format, so transition would be easy. You could host as many or as few events as you want and take the club in whatever creative direction you desire.
Looking forward to hopefully chatting with a few of you and seeing this club on campus again!!

HR Students check out this LinkedIn Workshop on January 27, 2021 from 12p-1p organized by the DSB SPD. Registration is required for the event, which can be completed through the My Experience Platform.

What value does this provide you as an HR Student? This workshop will help you create a strong profile for potential employers to learn more about you and provide insight into how to make meaningful connections on LinkedIn. Navigating LinkedIn is especially important for HR students interested in a career in recruitment and hiring who may be using the website to search for candidates or post job listings.

Hello HR Students! Hope everyone is having a good semester so far. It's that time of year again to renew your CPHR Student Membership or apply if you weren't a member before. Don't forget that as an accredited institution, we pay 50% lower fees than students at other institutions.
Why be a CPHR member while you're still a student? They offer great networking and learning opportunities that could be a differentiator for your future. They also offer mentorship programs so you can connect with HR professionals and learn non-classroom info about the current struggles and triumphs in our field.
Want more info about membership perks? Check out the CPHR website or shoot an email to Avi, the CPHR Alberta Post-secondary Liason at [email protected]

CPHR Campus Ambassador applications are open until this week Friday. Our club president Samantha Tams Betts is the outgoing ambassador and she says of the program:

"I was fortunate to be able to serve in this program as the first campus ambassador at the Dhillon School of Business. I learned a lot about CPHR, made great connections, and sharpened some skills. The program really added to my University experience, so I would highly recommend it to HR students who want to get their foot in the door and differentiate themselves."

If you're looking for more information, we recommend you reach out to Samantha ([email protected]), or Avi the student liaison at CPHR ([email protected]).

Our Campus Ambassador program is taking applications until September 18. Student members, be the liaison between CPHR Alberta and student life on campus. See if you qualify today! http://ow.ly/xCrq50BnIlA

Hello HRLR Peers!

We have just received information from CPHR Alberta regarding your eligibility to waive the NKE (National Knowledge Exam).

CPHR Alberta has made the decision that if a student has a Pass grade(s) on their transcripts for their Spring 2020 term courses, they will calculate your GPA based upon all of the other courses in your accredited program or path. If the GPA for all of your other required courses meets the necessary overall minimum GPA to waive the exam as a graduate of that program, you will still be eligible to waive the NKE.

Should you wish to discuss your individual circumstances, you may contact [email protected] and one of the Professional Standards team members will connect with you.

Stay safe and practise social distancing. -19

Hello HRLR Peers! As the University announced today over email, there is now an option to designate a course as (CR) instead of a GPA number. At this point, it is unclear what the implications are for choosing this for courses required to waive the CPHR knowledge exam (NKE).
If you are planning to have your NKE waived, be sure to talk to an academic advisor before choosing a CR on any of the courses in the attached document. Stay safe and practice social distancing. -19
