Meet Ava Daly.

Ava’s Dhillon journey has been shaped by curiosity, discipline and a willingness to take on the unexpected. From early mornings and a full course load to working as a lifeguard and swim instructor, she’s balanced it all while staying focused on growth.

Originally planning for aeronautical engineering, Ava shifted into a dual degree in fine arts and business, later adding a Japanese minor; ultimately leading to a life-changing year studying in Japan at Kansai Gaidai University.

“I absolutely loved it,” she says. “I learned so much about myself and about the world.”

The University of Lethbridge is pleased to welcome Dr. Blake Phillips as the new Dean of the Dhillon School of Business, effective Sept 1.

An accomplished finance researcher, educator and academic leader, Phillips joins ULethbridge after 15 years at the University of Waterloo, where he served in various roles, including Professor of Finance and Director of the School of Accounting and Finance.
With a leadership philosophy grounded in collaboration, transparency and service, and extensive experience in academic programming, accreditation, co-op education, strategic planning and student success, Phillps brings a collaborative vision for the future of business education and a commitment to helping faculty, staff and students thrive.

“I'm particularly drawn to the Dhillon School’s emphasis on student experience and its ambition to prepare thoughtful, responsible leaders for an increasingly complex world,” says Phillips. “I believe innovation must be grounded in community and institutional context, and meaningful change is built through consultation, trust and shared ownership.”
