We are proud to celebrate the graduation of Grande Prairie Police Service Recruit Class 4.

This accomplishment reflects months of hard work, perseverance, and dedication by a remarkable group of recruits who are preparing to begin their policing careers in service to the Grande Prairie community.

This graduation is especially meaningful as GPPS prepares to become the police service of jurisdiction for Grande Prairie in just 12 days. We are honoured to be part of this historic transition and proud of the strong partnership we have built together.

Our instructional team remains committed to supporting our policing partners through high-quality training, collaboration, and a shared commitment to community well-being. Working together, we help develop the professionals who will make a difference in communities across Alberta.

Congratulations to all graduates of Recruit Class 4. Your journey is just beginning, and we look forward to seeing the impact you will have in your community.

We are excited to share some highlights from Building Bridges: the Canadian Society of Evidence-Based Policing Conference, hosted in Edmonton, AB this year from Oct. 6-8, 2026.

One of our CPSAR posters, "The Cases That Never Come Forward: Rethinking Sexual Violence Response," was recognized as one of the top 2 out of 24 posters at the conference.

The poster presents an Alberta-based environmental scan and needs assessment that makes the case for a survivor-centred sexual violence restorative justice model, and it was developed by Dr. Jami Albright-Tolman, Kristine Cassie (MSc, CEO of Aurora), and student research assistants Breah McGladdery and Sierra Stumborg.

We'd also like to recognize the Lethbridge Polytechnic students who have been volunteering, taking notes, and representing the institution throughout the conference: Lainie Fuhrmann, Megan Grosventreboy, Breah McGladdery, and Sierra Stumborg. All four are Bachelor of Criminal Justice students and student research assistants on a variety of CPSAR projects, and they have been outstanding ambassadors for our School of Justice Studies and the Centre for Public Safety Applied Research.

We are excited to share the achievement of Victoria Nelson who had her Master of Human Rights degree from the University of Manitoba conferred last week.

Victoria is a graduate of our Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree program. During her time at Lethbridge Polytechnic, she participated in the study abroad opportunity attending the Victimology seminar at the University of Dubrovnik in Croatia. This experience truly inspired her to continue down the path of human rights.

We send Victoria our congratulations and wish her great success for her future endeavours.
