Providing licensed play-based early learning and exploration for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. My name is Rebecca, and I operate a LICENSED family day home called FantasticTots, in north Lethbridge. I offer the following as an educator:
• Current first aid, and clean criminal record and family services checks.
• 15 years of professional child care experience.
• Level 1 ECE, and slowly working on level 2.
• child portfolios via a secure online program that allows me to share instantly with parents.
• comfortable and knowledgeable with managing the care of several types of special needs that children may have.
• skilled in positive techniques for working with challenging behaviours in children of all ages, ie, tantrums, special needs, behavior disorders…
• very organized
• Learned through experience how to customize my curriculum and routine so that it works for everyone.
• transport to a couple schools if it works for our schedule for families requiring care before and after preschool or kindergarten.
• fluent in English, and understand quite a bit of French, which I try to pass on to the “littles” whenever I can.
• prepare visually appealing meals, all balanced and prepared according to Canada’s Food Guide, and always with food safety in mind.
• avid home chef and baker, and love to get messy and creative in the kitchen with the children. In my day home, we have the following:
• A smoke-free environment.
• We are pet friendly! We have 2 well behaved dogs, 2 gentle cats, a goofy cockatiel, and a fish! The dogs and the cat are all up to date on medical check-ups and immunizations.
• a large yard with tons of shade, and lots of room to run and play. We have a beautiful flower garden and a large organic strawberry patch which the children help tend, to learn about nature, nurture, and nutrition. We have outdoor play houses, climbing structures, riding toys, tables and chairs, a mud kitchen, digging spots with tools, and great neighbors!
• Lots of indoor play space with some clearly defined centers, and lots of mental and physical learning opportunities. We have a dedicated room in which we do naps, but at non-sleep times it becomes a space for rough and tumble play, featuring a washable play couch as well. We do everything on the main floor, and there are very few areas in which they cannot go. Main floor also means lots of natural light and fresh air
•we're play-based, meaning I observe children's actions and interests, and design experiences and activities to further their play, and understanding of how the world works. I’m open Monday-Friday, and provide 2 healthy snacks and lunch daily, with most meals being handcrafted here in my kitchen, by me. If this sounds like the type of environment that you are interested in for your child, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If I don’t respond right away, I apologize…I’m likely engaged with the children in an activity of some sort. Rest assured that I will get back to you as soon as I am able!
