There are some changes happening in child care across the Province that will affect monthly parent portions for families that qualify for grant funding. Little Bear enrolled families were sent an email with a letter from the Minister of Jobs, Economy & Trade. For parents who wish to respond to this flat monthly fee, the Minister’s office may be contacted using this form. https://www.alberta.ca/contact-a-cabinet-minister

Starting April 1, a flat monthly parent fee will be introduced for licensed daycares and family day homes.

The flat monthly fee applies to children up to kindergarten age attending child care programs during regular school hours.

Parents with children attending full time (100 hours or more) will pay $326.25 a month. Parents with children attending part-time (between 50 and 99 hours) will pay $230 a month.

About 80% of child care fees will be covered on families’ behalf through grants.

A flat monthly fee will provide transparency and predictability for families in every part of the province.
