An incredible achievement!!
Faculty of Arts & Science Gold Medal (Arts) winner Amy Cran demonstrates extraordinary leadership through compassion for the community
Amy Cran (BA '23) is no stranger to stepping outside of her comfort zone. While hesitant at first to pursue an independent study, Amy says it led to many experiences and connections within ULethbridge and beyond that enriched her undergraduate experience.

Hi everyone!
Hopefully everyone is staying sane as we finalize midterms (only two weeks until reading week!!). That said, in conjunction with the Anthropology department, we would like to invite you to a social gathering this Monday (Halloween), to meet some professors and talk to some other students about what they are researching. This could lead you to connections with professors, and perhaps even spark the wires in your brain that say “hey… maybe I could do that.” This will give you avenues to explore that and learn what steps you need to take!
Plus, who doesn’t want pumpkin cookies?
See you soon, and stay safe!

But, one of us will be there tomorrow if you want to stop to say hi and put yourself back on our mail list for this semester! We will also be taking tally for interest in another hoodie sale, so stop by and say hi so we can make a head count!

Recently, our newly graduated VP attended a conference in Portugal representing the University of Lethbridge! We are so proud of her for making it to this amazing opportunity! Here are some photos from her trip, and little message from Kathleen:
“I recently had the opportunity to travel to Portugal to attend the Global Meeting of Law and Society. This conference has over 4500 attendees both in person and virtually and featured over 1000 panels. The panel I was featured in was titled Post-Colonial Contestations and Identities and featured work attempting to understand and comprehend life in areas of the world that experienced the violence of colonialism. Though my work studying the Freedom movement in Western Canada was not based in law, I was still able to present my work by rooting it within important conversations about the ongoing affect of colonialism in Canada. Anthropology provides a very useful view in that you can apply anthropological theory across disciplines. Making your work flexible and meaningful. With help from the Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group, who helped provide funding for this trip, I was able to take my work to the international stage. I consider it a huge honour to get this kind of opportunity straight out of my undergraduate degree. Anthropology can take you places all across the world, and introduce you to new people that you can connect with in the future.
From Kat!”
Congrats on this amazing success Kat! You’re gonna do so many great things with your career! Good luck in Ottawa (this lucky lady is headed to Carleton University!!) ❤️❤️
