Lethbridge Piano Intensive

The 2021 edition of the Lethbridge Piano Intensive featured three separate programs, one for adults, one for children and one geared towards teenagers on site at the beautiful University of Lethbridge campus. The Adult program took place on June 11 and 18 and included lessons, masterclasses as well as sessions on 18th century ornamentation, physical and mental health for musicians, physical choreography for small-handed/bodied pianists. The kids and teens program occurred July 3-7 and opened with a faculty concert featuring the piano quartet FOURtitude (Deanna Oye, Brad Parker, Cheryl Emery-Karapita) and closed with a recital showcasing student performances. In between, students received private lessons, masterclasses, similar sessions to the adult program as well as duet and trio coachings, and also included ensembles (duets and trios), group ensembles, African drumming sessions, a Centric music festival performance and best of all, a pizza party and movie/games night!



What sets LPI apart – we invite students of all ages, experience and skill levels, there is no audition, students receive lots of lesson time (for example, the teens had a 1 hour lesson scheduled everyday), the diversity of enriching sessions, the support from program assistants (including chaperoning), and the hybrid in-person/online format.
