Fall Season of the Year !

Theme of the Month : Harvest

Purpose :

The children enjoyed harvesting vegetables from the garden . As they picked the vegetables, they learned where the food comes from and developed understanding of how plants grow . We carefully pulling and picking the produce so they would not damage the plant. At first they were scared to pull the produce from the ground but encourage them to build their confidence so they can do the task successfully.

The children user their senses to explore the garden. They touched the leaves and vegetables, and they noticed different colors, shapes , sizes , textures and smells . And they compared the vegetables they harvested that some were bigger or smaller than others.

Through this experience, the children developed early science and math skills by observing plant growth, counting the vegetables, sorting them by colour or size. They also strengthened their fine motor skills and hand- eye coordination while picking and handling the produce.

Goal :

They learned about caring for nature and the importance of taking care of plants by watering , weeding and giving them enough sunlight . They experience how to be curious, they cooperate and ready to accept responsibility.
