Music with Diana

If you haven't heard, I am moving to Ireland in three weeks! Come see me perform one last time at the Leduc Art Walk 2023 today at 4:45. See you there!

The last performer to grace our stage for the 2023 Leduc Art Walk will be Diana Turner. Diana has been involved in the music industry as a piano & voice teacher, and a live performer for nearly a decade and her passion and talent for music goes back as far as I can remember. Her pop and folk covers in both English and Dutch come to life through her well trained vocal technique and sweet yet powerful tone. Unfortunately, this will likely be her last performance in Canada for many years to come as she moves to Ireland this summer. I will be joining Diana on stage around 5:30 for a short set as a duo to finish off the day. I hope you will join us one last time before Diana is off on her upcoming adventure.

Even though you have all had your final lessons with me, there are still a few loose ends to tie up for the year. In the next few weeks, be on the look out from a message from me with my recommendation for your new instructor. I will also be emailing out the 2021-2022 piano recordings, so be sure to let me know if you would also like a physical copy.

Invites to the Summer Treats piano parties have been sent! Please check your email and RSVP as soon as possible. 🍨

The party schedule is as follows:
- Ages 7-9 on Thursday, June 23, 6pm
- Ages 8-11 on Wednesday, June 29, 5pm
- Ages 10-12 on Monday, June 27, 7:30pm

Each student has been invited to a specific party that matches their age and skill level, but they may RSVP for a different party to accommodate your schedule.

My students have three recital options this June:
1. Piano Parties (more details coming soon)
2. In-person recital on June 26 (I will not be at this event)
3. Virtual recital on June 25

As many of you know, June 2022 will be my last month of teaching private music lessons. Although it breaks my heart to say goodbye to all of my incredible students, I am excited to see what this next chapter of my life brings!

I created this dino-themed card set to help students review white key note names. I've used these cards to play Go Fish, Keyboard Races, and (my personal favourite) Memory!

Games in music lessons have many benefits such as:
- helping students focus on a specific concept,
- adding brain or movement breaks, and
- allowing me to assess progress with a skill or idea.

Plus, did I mention they're fun? 😁

Weird schedule alert!!! 📢

Thanks again to everyone who shuffled around their piano lesson time with me this week to accommodate my travel schedule. I'm so happy to still be able to teach a bit while I'm on the road!

There will be no in-person lessons until May 11. Make-up slots for missed classes are available on May 11 and 12.

Thank you everyone who is accommodating my schedule while I'm away. Whether you've taken a break, switched temporarily to online lessons, or moved your time, I really appreciate it!

In-person lessons will be available again starting May 11, including slots for students who have missed a lesson due to my absence.

Please notice the changes to the semester 2 calendar below.

I will be taking some additional days off in April as I come to the end of my practicum. Note that there will be NO LESSONS on April 6 (Wednesday) or April 12 (Tuesday).

There will also be some additional weeks off at the beginning of May (2nd-11th). To help make up for these missed lessons, I have made myself available at the end of June.

I am so grateful for all of the flexibility you have given me as I am juggling teaching piano and my second practicum!
