We're excited to announce another new program we are running this Fall!

Let's Grow Outside is a program for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. (Older siblings up to age 12 are welcome to join!)

It will give participants an opportunity to learn about cool things in nature and how to best take care of the world around us. We have a very special guest, Allison Gilby , a local nature enthusiast offering her guidance and expertise.

The first of 3 sessions will be on Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00-11:30 am.
Location will be announced later next week.

The theme of this session is Fall Leave and Seeds.
We will have snacks and giveaways available on a first come, first serve basis.

No registration required, but we will have a sign in sheet on arrival.

Please dress for the weather conditions (hard to say what it will be at this point!)

For more information, or if you have any questions, please contact Diana at 902 883 4349 or email [email protected]

We would like to thank FLIEF (Family Learning Initiative Endowment Fund) through the Government of Nova Scotia for the funding to offer this program.

Great opportunity for families with young children 18 months-4 years

FAQs about the Early Childhood Check-in

WHAT IS IT: It's essentially a trade show for parents/guardians of community activities and healthy ideas. :)

You can also get your child's hearing and speech tested at as early as 18 months -- long before they head to school.

If they do need help, you can be referred to FREE services. They can work with you and your child before they go to school, and will help with transitioning to school.

DO I HAVE TO STAY FOR THREE HOURS: No! Make your appointment for hearing/speech, (call 902-883-4349) and stay only for that.
Or you can browse the rest of the tables and speak to Public Health staff, Easts Hants Recreation and others before or after the appointment.

I AM WORKING/UNAVAILABLE THAT DAY, CAN SOMEONE ELSE BRING MY CHILD?
Yes! We will work out those details when you call 902-883-4349 to register. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, caregivers, etc. can bring the child with your permission.

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING? A swag bag for anyone registered; door prize giveaway of a $50 gift card and a $25 gift card; COVID vaccination clinic for anyone aged 6 months and up; a chance to meet other families!
Transportation support can be arranged.

Call us at 902-883-4349 :)

🌈 "Good for you." "Make you grow." "Healthy." "Bad." We know what we mean when we say these things, but our kids don't.

I created this little rainbow lesson when my son was in preschool and I went and talked to the 3 and 4yo's about why we eat fruits and veggies. I didn't want to give them something that wasn't useful. So I gave them this lesson instead. They LOVED it.

Our kids are growing up and into a world with so many diet and health messages - and most of them are negative. We can give them useful information in the early years so that as they get older we can add to it and help them navigate a complicated world.

🌈 If you've got a picky eater, these sorts of messages can help. You can find the printable of this and the other most popular ones in the shop, and you can get the free picky eater guide in the bio link as well.
