It’s official: after four months of medical leave, Angela will sadly not be returning to Legends Academy. We will miss her very much. Angela has made the decision to move into work that is easier on her body, and while we are sad to see her go, we fully support her in taking care of herself. Angela, thank you for all you have given to our Legends Academy community. We will miss you and wish you all the very best in your new position.

An acrylic set of nails, start to finish.

Shape, cuticle work, surface prep, application, finish. The order is not negotiable, and most of the skill sits in the steps nobody notices.

Students practise on paying clients in our student salon, with a licensed instructor checking the work before the client leaves the chair.

Nail art, in progress.

The art is the part people photograph. The part that makes it last is underneath it: how the nail was prepped, how the product was applied, whether the structure is balanced.

Get the foundation wrong and the design lifts within a week. Get it right and it wears the way the client expected when they booked.

A nail station, set up and ready.

Before any client sits down, the station is sanitised and every implement is accounted for. Sanitation is not the glamorous part of nail training and it is the part a licensed technician is held to.

Nail Technology runs 400 hours. Manicures, pedicures, gels, acrylics, nail structure and nail health, sanitation standards, and the artistry built on top of all of it.

The trades are built for career changers — full retraining takes months rather than years, and the skills go straight into paid work. Nail Technology is 400 hours. Esthetics is 800. Hairdressing is 1500. Medical Esthetics & Laser is 1060.

Funding is available through StudentAid BC, an RESP, a line of credit, or monthly self-pay.

Beauty programs are built to take complete beginners and train them from the ground up, one skill at a time. The work is hands-on rather than academic — most of your day is spent practising technique by hand.

It is demanding the way any trade is demanding. But the structure is built so that anyone willing to show up and practise can get through it.

Our student salon is open to the public, and prices run at about half of standard salon pricing.

Hair — cuts, blowouts, foils, balayage, colour, updos and extensions.
💆 Esthetics — facials, waxing, lashes and body treatments.
💅 Nails — manicures, pedicures, gel and acrylic.
🔬 Laser — hair removal and skin treatments.

Every service is performed by a senior student and checked by a licensed instructor. You get professional work at a training price, and our students get the hours they need.
