Best Practices to Encourage Longevity in Music Excellence and Passion ⭐️⭐️

1. Fall in love with music, together.
2. Provide outside opportunities to see live music and arts in public places where others are also enjoying it! Ex. The Ballet, A community holiday event/parade, The Symphony - they have great matinée rates for students!)
3. Give opportunities to practice in a calm and quiet space in the house, regularly.
4. Encourage different ways of practicing after following teacher instructions (can they do it backwards? Can they do the first 5 notes with Lego?)
5. When it gets hard and boring (which it will), encourage, but also give breaks and break it up!

Let us know if this is helpful! Do you have any ideas?

There’s a buzz in the air at Langley Gardens after a lovely afternoon of performance by some of the students at Liberty Academy of Performing Arts.

These students put their hard work to the test and shared their passion for music in an intimate setting, the lounge of Chartwell Langley Gardens.

What came out of it were tears, loud applause and intentional conversations about the joy that filled the home after hearing young performers share songs the residents know and love.

Our deepest gratitude to the staff and community of Langley Gardens for welcoming us into your space and giving our students a chance to share the gift of music!

Apparently, Squirrel has made an executive decision that we now offer music lessons for pets (at no extra charge!)

Growth at Liberty often means choosing what is right over what is easy. The small choices made with consistency, courage, and discipline are what shape confidence, character, and excellence over time.

Registration for the Winter–Spring term at Liberty Academy is now closed.

Liberty Academy runs on term enrollment rather than month-to-month for a reason. Learning music comes with natural ups and downs. If students stop during the difficult stages, they rarely experience the confidence and growth that come from pushing through them. Our term structure encourages students to stay committed long enough to see real progress.

It also allows students to prepare something meaningful over time for our showcases and community performances — something that simply isn’t possible when lessons start midway through a term.

Closing registration partway through the year protects the progress of current students and keeps everyone moving forward together toward the same goals.

There are still limited opportunities for:
• Trial lessons
• Coaching sessions for experienced students
• Readiness consultations for younger students (to determine if they are developmentally ready for lessons)

Summer Term registration will open soon.

At Liberty Academy, our showcases, workshops, and community performances are built into the full-term experience. Growth isn’t rushed here. It’s developed, refined, and then celebrated on stage.

Still want to work with Sarah?

✨ Summer Sessions — limited spots, flexible, great for new and returning students.
✨ Artist Packages (4-lesson minimum) — very limited availability for experienced performers & adults who want refinement, audition prep, performance polish, interview coaching, or a fresh professional perspective.

If you’re ready to do the real work — and perform with confidence — summer registration is now open. 🎤

If your child isn’t practicing, they won’t progress.
If they don’t progress, they won’t feel confident.
And when confidence drops, they assume they’re “bad” at it.

They’re not bad. They’re under-practiced.

Lessons introduce the skill.
Practice builds it.

Without support at home, you’re not just wasting money — you’re risking their self-belief.

Teenagers who choose to be apart of the class usually show us how serious they will take it by month 2-3.

When teens show up prepared, it’s rarely accidental.
It’s supported at home.

Parents who support well:
• protect practice time like it matters
• reinforce responsibility (not excuses)
• value preparation over perfection
• back the process, not just the performance
• encourage consistency when motivation dips

Your support doesn’t mean doing it for them —
it means holding the standard with them.

And that kind of partnership?
That’s where confident, capable teens are built. ✨
