Strong body. Strong mind. Brighter future.

Martial arts is not only about learning kicks, throws, or self-defence.

Every class gives students a chance to become more active, improve their coordination, and build physical strength. At the same time, they learn how to focus, listen, stay disciplined, and keep trying when something feels difficult.

Those lessons do not stay on the mat. They can help students feel more confident at school, at home, and in everyday life.

At Mudo Academy, we support students of different ages and abilities as they grow—one class and one small success at a time.

Trial lessons must be booked through our website:

Two disciplines. One membership. More ways to grow.

At Mudo Academy, students can train in both Taekwondo and Judo through one simple membership.

Taekwondo helps build speed, focus, confidence, and self-discipline.
Judo develops balance, timing, body control, and respect.

Training in both gives students a broader set of skills, new challenges, and more ways to discover what they enjoy.

With two nearby Langley locations, families have more flexibility while students benefit from a stronger, more complete martial arts experience.

Dear Parents,

As summer approaches, many families begin planning vacations, camps, and well-deserved time away. We fully support family time and making great summer memories. At the same time, we'd like to encourage you not to let your child take the entire summer off from martial arts training.

Martial arts is more than a sport or activity—it is a discipline. Discipline is built through consistency, commitment, and learning to do things even when they are challenging. While training can also be enjoyable, its greater purpose is to help students develop perseverance, confidence, self-control, and a strong work ethic.

When children take two months completely away from training, they often get out of the habit of putting in the hard work that martial arts requires. Every September, we receive many emails from frustrated parents who tell us they are having a hard time convincing their child to come back. The issue is usually not that the child no longer likes martial arts; they have simply become comfortable without the routine and commitment.

The reality is that this happens to adults as well. Most adults know how difficult it can be to get back to the gym after a long layoff, even when they know it's good for them. Children are no different. The longer the break, the harder it can be to restart.

It is always sad to see students lose momentum after working so hard to earn belts, improve their skills, and build positive habits. While their accomplishments are never erased, extended breaks can lead to a loss of technique, focus, confidence, and motivation.

Summer training does not have to be intense. Even attending once or twice a week can help students maintain their progress, stay connected to their goals, and continue building the habits that will serve them well both inside and outside the academy.

Of course, we understand that every family has summer plans, and occasional absences are expected. We simply encourage families to think carefully before taking the entire season off. A little consistency over the summer can make a tremendous difference when September arrives.

Thank you for your continued support and trust. We are honored to be part of your child's development and look forward to helping them continue growing throughout the summer and beyond.

Sincerely,

Master John S Yoo
