🌱 Farm Fest is almost here!

This Sunday, the KPU Farm at Garden City Lands comes alive for Richmond Farm Fest — a day to explore, taste and experience what’s happening on the farm!

KPU's Sustainable Agriculture department will be at the heart of the day, with hands-on opportunities to learn more about sustainable food systems and experience the farm for yourself. Explore U-pick flowers and vegetables, harvest activities, farm experiences and more.

🍺 From farm to glass! Visitors can stop by the Brew Barn and enjoy a glass of our farm-fresh Raspberry Hefeweizen — a collaboration between KPU Sustainable Agriculture and KPU Brewing, made with raspberries grown right here at the KPU Farm. With a site-wide liquor licence, visitors can enjoy their brew while exploring the festival.

➗ Be sure to visit the KPU Mathematics booth while you’re exploring! Stop by for some hands-on fun and put your problem-solving skills to the test.

There’s plenty more happening across the festival grounds, including Farm Olympics, Farm Wagon Tours, the Little Farmers Kids’ Zone, live entertainment, cooking demonstrations, food trucks, the Farmers Market and more.

We had a fantastic time welcoming our newest Faculty of Science students during New Student Orientation Week! 🎉

Our Dean, faculty members and academic advisors helped host Faculty of Science sessions at KPU Langley, Richmond and Surrey, sharing helpful information, answering questions and connecting with students as they get ready for the year ahead.

Last month, KPU's Applied Genomics Centre (AGC), supported by Genome BC, and Molson Coors Beverage Company unveiled a new hops R&D field at Molson Coors' Fraser Valley Brewery in Chilliwack.

The new site will support field trials of hop varieties developed in partnership with the AGC while also serving as a hub for research into irrigation best practices and other innovative growing techniques.

This marks an exciting milestone in the AGC's long-standing hops research program and strengthening collaboration with industry partners, as well as continuing to support the growth and success of locally grown hops in British Columbia.

And of course, the celebration included b**r brewed at KPU's award-winning teaching brewery, made with experimental hops developed by the AGC.
