WGSS PAC The purpose of the WGSS PAC is to promote and support education and to contribute to a sense of school community at Walnut Grove Secondary School.

All parents and guardians of students enrolled at Walnut Grove Secondary School are members. About the PAC

The purpose of the WGSS PAC is to promote and support education and to contribute to a sense of school community at Walnut Grove Secondary School. The PAC endeavours to;

* Enhance communication between Parents, and the Board, the community, the school administration, the students, and the staff,
* Provide for a formal means of consultation and making recommendations respecting any matter relating to the school other than the following matters assigned to the school planning council,
* Assist the school planning council in carrying out its functions under the School Act,
* Promote cooperation between the home and the school in providing for the education of children,
* Assist parents in accessing the system and to provide advocacy support for children and their parents,
* Contribute to the effectiveness of the school by promoting the involvement of parents and other community members,
* Organize and provide additional resources to the school through approved volunteer activities.

💡 Ever wondered what PAC is all about?

At the open house in February, our PAC president, Itzel Symonds shared:

"PAC exists for one simple but important reason, to support students in ways that go beyond the classroom. Secondary school is a time when students are discovering who they are, what they enjoy, and where they’re headed next. Our goal is to help create opportunities that make those years richer, more memorable, and more meaningful.

Last year, PAC supported 36 different projects and contributed over $46,000 directly back into our community. Those funds support student clubs, sports, and extracurricular programs that help students explore interests, build friendships, and develop confidence outside the classroom. From athletics and the arts to a wide range of clubs and student initiatives, PAC funding helps ensure students have access to these experiences that shape their growth and connection to school.

We also maintain student scholarships funded through donations. These scholarships recognize commitment, perseverance, and growth as students move toward graduation and their next stage in life. When donations allow, PAC also supports curriculum enhancing projects that cannot be funded through regular school budgets."
