🐝 Most people in BC have never heard of this bee…
But if you have fruit trees, berries, or a garden, this little native pollinator might become your new best friend.
They’re called mason bees.
And here’s the wild part…
One mason bee can pollinate as much as 100 honeybees during the spring bloom.
They don’t swarm.
They don’t make honey.
They almost never sting.
They just quietly wake up in early spring and get to work pollinating apple, cherry, plum, blueberry, and garden flowers all across British Columbia.
These bees have actually been part of our ecosystem here long before honeybees were ever brought to North America. (Think our last ice age!!!)
But most people don’t even know they exist.
That’s why we created BC Mason Bees to help gardeners and orchard owners learn about these incredible native pollinators and how easy they are to support in your own backyard.
