In light of the tragic events that occurred Wednesday morning at the Truth and Reconciliation Ceremony at Tsawwassen Mills, the Trustee Forum scheduled for this evening will be canceled. DPAC, the Delta Teachers’ Association and CUPE 1091 have agreed that out of respect for the Tsawwassen First Nations community, community members and trustees who were present, it would not be appropriate to proceed with the forum at this time.

Our DPAC chairs convey this message: We are available if anyone would like to reach out for support and send our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones. There are supports available if you were witness to the event and we are always here to help if needed.

As per Peek at the week email, message from Mr Levenstein

This Tuesday is LE’s Orange Shirt Day 🧡 Orange Shirt Day is observed to honour Indigenous children who were taken from their families and placed in residential schools across Canada. By wearing orange, we show support for survivors and commit to learning about truth, reconciliation, and respect. All students and staff are encouraged to wear an orange top on Orange Shirt Day

Truth & Reconciliation Activities at LE:
• As was discussed at the September staff meeting, we will have the following events taking place to honour the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation this Tuesday:
o Intermediate Assembly at 9:30 am in the Gym
o Intermediate students will facilitate a TRC activity in primary classes at 10:45 am
o Intermediate students can complete their own intermediate TRC activity anytime Tuesday that fits with their classroom’s timetable
