Today, the children explored our Pond Life sensory activity in a tuff tray filled with kinetic sand. Small frogs and ducks were placed on top of the sand. The children used tweezers to carefully pick up the frogs and ducks and transfer them into a container..
This activity supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and pincer grip strength. It also encouraged concentration, sensory exploration, and imaginative play as the children interacted with the pond animals.

Yesterday, we made homemade ice cream using cream, sugar, vanilla extract, ice, and salt! The children had so much fun helping measure the ingredients and watching everything come together. Everyone took turns shaking the bags and excitedly felt the mixture become thicker and turn into ice cream. They enjoyed smelling the sweet vanilla scent before tasting their delicious creation. It was a fun, hands-on science and sensory experience that had everyone smiling and eager to enjoy their homemade treat!

We had an absolute blast on our last full day of Playschool.
Before our field trip we did a quick run down of how Thursday morning would look so they were ready and prepared for the celebration.
We got to take the bus to the “princess park”! The rain cleared up just in time for everyone to enjoy the playground, so the monkey bars, play field games and eat snack.
Back at the center we played with toys, got tattoos, and played new games in the gym!
We’re sad the year is over, but so proud of our class and the achievements they made!

We’re focusing on review these last few days of Playschool. Today’s focus was numbers, so during circle we used some flashcards to practice 1-10 (1-20 for some of the kiddos who were ready).
We finished up some special cards for the Dads for our craft.
We enjoyed the park today as well. Practicing on the monkey bars and playing chase games in the field.

Today was the first class, in our last month of Playschool. Today we talked all about the weather. Storms and rain and clouds and growing.
We were lucky to have a break in the weather a bit this afternoon and so we geared up and went on a rainy day walk around the neighbourhood. We talked about using our 4 (not 5, because nothing was going in our mouth on the walk😜) senses to see what we could see, hear, smell, and feel. The list was pretty extensive and everyone seemed to love being out!
Amortized out numbers today with a look and find spring colouring page. The kiddos would find the pictures, count how many, and then draw the number in the space provided. Mrs Kelsey drew examples of the numbers as we went, or showed what the number looked like as a tally mark.

We continued our construction theme learning on Thursday. We had out foam brick building blocks and all the other construction related toys out. Our circle time book about a beaver making a toolbox out of wood sparked some great conversations about beavers; what they eat, where they live, their big teeth etc!
We again beat the heat of the day by going outside before lunch. We had Mr Logan with us today and he kept them moving with all kinds of tag and running games!
After lunch we did a name recognition craft and colouring task. Mrs Kristyn made a huge circuit in the gym that everyone played on!
