September 30 is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. It is also Orange Shirt Day.
This special day gives us an "opportunity to create meaningful discussion about the effects of Residential Schools and the legacy they have left behind."
Students and staff at Pearson Electrotechnology Centre attended a very special presentation by 60s Scoop survivor and teacher Rolanda Murphy. Ms. Murphy spoke of her experience of being taken from her family when she was less than a year old. The presentation started with PEC student Donovan McComber, a First Nation Mohawk, reading the land acknowledgement. Ms. Murphy's presentation was followed by a moment of silence to honour victims of the residential school system.

As part of Orange Shirt Day, PACC Adult created a giant orange shirt with hundreds of small orange shirts with messages written by students and staff that all have the same heading of “Every child matters to me because”….
This project was made possible thanks to Melissa Wallach and Kristina Tellier of the student services department.

Lester B. Pearson School Board has launched an exciting new project which honours our alumni. We can't think of a better person to launch the project than Montreal's favourite morning man, Terry DiMonte
We are also featuring alumni from our adult and vocational centres. Do you know an amazing LBPSP alumnus? If so, we'd love to hear from you. You can email Julie Liebman [email protected] or tag them in the comments below.
They may just be featured on the Lester B. Virtual Wall of Fame. Stay tuned!
We are excited to launch a new project with our followers: The Lester B. Virtual Wall of Fame🥇, which features alumni who will share how their time at one of our schools helped them accomplish incredible careers and milestones. From community leaders to teachers, and from reporters to chefs, each has an amazing story to share. These incredible alumni 👩🎓 are part of what makes the LBPSB so special.
Today, Montreal’s favourite radio morning man, 🎙Terry DiMonte🎙, shares his memories about his time at Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School (now Pierrefonds Community High School). “I have a fond memory of walking around the halls of Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School (PCHS) the year it opened. Yes, I've been around a while. I didn't realize then that the lessons learned there would help send me on my way to my dream job of being on the radio. A tip of the cap 🧢 to PCHS, LBPSB, and everyone there!”.
