🏃 PARE is coming up!

Our next PARE test is happening October 13 at ALETC in Lac La Biche.

If you need a PARE for an upcoming application, this is your chance to get it done. If you’re just curious about where you’re at physically, you can come out and give it a try too.

Not quite hitting the time you want? No problem. Our instructors can provide tips, feedback and guidance to help you figure out where you can improve.

It’s a good workout, a good challenge, and a pretty good way to find out just how much you really want that career. 😉

CPOIP 11 | Week 7 Update

Another busy week for CPOIP 11, with cadets continuing to build practical skills through hands-on training.

This week, one group of cadets completed the Sh***un Operators Course, developing the knowledge and skills required for safe and professional sh***un operations.

At the same time, another group hit the EVOC track, continuing to develop their emergency vehicle operation skills through practical driving training.

Different training environments, different skill sets, all with the same goal: preparing cadets for the realities of working in law enforcement.

Seven weeks down. The training continues.

Honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On Sunday, September 27, Cadet's of CPOIP 11 attended the Alberta Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day in Edmonton.

The annual ceremony is an opportunity to pause, remember and honour the police and peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, while recognizing the families, friends and colleagues who continue to carry their loss.

For those preparing to enter the profession, being part of a ceremony like this is a meaningful reminder of the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform and serving the public.

We are proud of the cadets who took the time to attend and pay their respects alongside members of the broader law enforcement community.

We remember. We honour. We will never forget.

CPOIP 11 | Week 6 Update

This week, CPOIP 11 spent the entire week focused on Emergency Vehicle Operations.

Cadets moved from the classroom to the driver’s seat, putting their training to work through a full week of EVOC. The course challenges cadets to safely operate emergency vehicles while managing speed, vehicle control, decision-making and the pressures that come with emergency driving.

Emergency vehicle operation is about much more than simply driving fast. Cadets are required to understand their vehicle, recognize changing conditions, make sound decisions under pressure and maintain control when the situation becomes demanding.

Throughout the week, cadets worked through progressively challenging scenarios designed to build confidence, judgment and practical driving skills.

EVOC is an important part of preparing future Peace Officers for what they may encounter in the field and out on the roads.

🚔 Tomorrow, we’ll be at the First Responder Career Fair in Edmonton.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Training Centre (ALETC) will be at the Edmonton Expo Centre – Hall E tomorrow, Saturday, September 26, from 0900–1600 hrs.

If you’re considering a career in law enforcement or public safety, come talk to our team and learn more about the opportunities available as a Peace Officer and the training required to get there.

🚆 Rail Safety Week 🚔

This week, there will be an increased presence across Canada as railway police services, including CN Police Service (CNPS) and partners, to promote railway safety and help prevent crossing and trespassing incidents.

Officers will be conducting education and enforcement activities at railway crossings, intersections and other identified hotspots.

A few important reminders:

• 🚦 Obey all railway signs, lights, gates and signals. Never go around a lowered gate or ignore an active warning signal.
• 🚷 Never trespass on railway property. Tracks, bridges, yards and other railway property are not public areas.
• 📸 Never enter railway property to take photos or videos. Stay well clear of the tracks and use designated public areas.
• 🚗 Never stop on the tracks. Make sure there is enough room on the other side before proceeding across a crossing.
• 👀 Stay alert around crossings. Put down your phone, remove distractions and look and listen for trains.
• 🚆 Remember: trains cannot stop quickly. Always give trains the right of way.

Railway safety is a shared responsibility. Stay off the tracks, respect the signals and make safe choices around railway property.
