This walk honors Children who were taken from their families and forced to attend Canada’s residential schools. Some of those children, like Chanie Wenjack, lost their lives along the way. This year at Churchill Community High School, La Ronge we will also be walking for Bobby Bird.
Bobby Bird was a 10 year old boy from La Ronge who was forced to attend the day school at Timber Bay in 1969, Bobby ran away from the school and headed north along the Molanosa road to get to his home in La Ronge. He never made it.
Today’s walk will also honor Bobby Bird from La Ronge.

We hope that you will wear orange and join us for this important event.
