La Crete Community Dance

The most special day! Maddie and Alanna have become the first to go en pointe at La Crete Community Dance! 🩰 Miss Emma took the girls out for dinner to celebrate with fancy, glittery drinks and pink noodles 🌸😂

These girls have worked countless hours in and out of the studio refining their technique, applying corrections, and working on physio specific exercises. They successfully passed Miss Emma’s pre-pointe assessment as well as an assessment completed by a registered physiotherapist. They truly have shown their dedication to the art of ballet!

I am so excited to watch their journey continue to unfold as they experience the challenge of dancing en pointe. Getting your first pair of pointe shoes is a pivotal moment in a young ballerinas career, so be sure to give your congratulations to these dancers!

We are finally back from taking some time off to visit family! It was a very busy “break” but I did have the great opportunity to take some dance classes for the first time in a long time at the most amazing and beautiful studio!
I teared up a bit in my contemporary class as I was so grateful to still be able to move and completely leave behind all of my worries, fears, and struggles at the door of the studio. Even though I have been struggling with long lasting injuries and chronic pain the last few years, it truly healed my soul just being surrounded by other adult dancers and sharing our love of dance together. It was a beautiful week of dancing and I had so much fun, learned new things, and woke up with very sore muscles each day lol. I forgot how much I missed being a student! Here’s your sign to do the things you used to love doing when you were younger, it is so important! And to my dancers, don’t stop dancing! You can take everything you learn in dance throughout the rest of your life! I look forward to catching up with all of you!

We celebrated the hard work of our dancers and the end of our competitive season with ice cream and some Just Dance! I am so proud of how far our little studio has come in such a short amount of time! I cannot wait to see the growth of our dancers as they continue to explore their artistry, strengthen their teamwork, and push themselves to new heights.

Dance is so hard as it is not only incredibly athletic, but it also requires so much artistry and passion. An entire season of dance culminates in just 2 minutes on stage and sometimes it works wonderfully and sometimes things don’t turn out the way you wanted.

Every part of dance and performing is so vulnerable. You put your heart and soul into the creation, rehearsal of the piece, and then performing in front of an audience. I loved witnessing our dancers becoming comfortable with being vulnerable and leaving all of their feelings on the stage.

I loved seeing how our dancers supported each other in the audience and backstage, offering hugs, prayers, kind words, and reassurance. It truly is so special to be able to see the support that happens backstage.

While recognition and awards are always nice, our team has come back with so many memories, inspiration, and a drive to push themselves to become better artists and performers. Thank you so much to and for creating a positive environment for our dancers to experience performing with great feedback from adjudicators! It was such a valuable experience!
