Flight Safety Tip Thursday ☀️✈️

Warm sunny afternoons often bring thermal turbulence. As the ground heats up, rising air creates bumps and unstable flying conditions — especially over pavement, buildings, and open fields.

Thermals are a normal part of flying, but they can make training flights more challenging and uncomfortable. When possible, plan flights earlier in the morning for smoother air and more stable conditions.

Because safety always comes first. 💪

We're excited to be participating in Discover Aviation on Saturday, June 13 at the Region of Waterloo International Airport (YKF)! (Rain date: Sunday, June 14.)

Hosted by COPA Breslau Flight 26, Fliteline Services, and the Waterloo Warbirds, this community event gives participants the opportunity to experience the thrill of flight through a free introductory flight in a small aircraft.

Be sure to stop by the WWFC booth to learn more about flight training, our drone programs, and aviation career opportunities. You can also check out Canada's first certified electric aircraft, the Velis Electro, and enter for a chance to win a scenic flight experience!

Whether you're dreaming of becoming a pilot or simply curious about aviation, we'd love to chat.

A huge thank you to the organizers and volunteers who make this incredible event possible. We look forward to spending the day celebrating aviation and inspiring the next generation of aviators.

See you there! ✈️

⚽✈️ FIFA World Cup 2026 is coming to Canada!

From June 11 to July 19, 2026, Southern Ontario will host World Cup matches and events, including six matches in Toronto between June 12 and July 2. Increased charter, corporate, media, and support aircraft traffic is expected throughout the region. CYKF may be utilized for overflow aircraft parking and associated operations.

Pilots should be prepared for:
✔️ Increased traffic density
✔️ More transient aircraft operating at local airports
✔️ Higher radio frequency congestion
✔️ Potential routing and operational changes
✔️ Increased workload for pilots and controllers

Aviation safety starts with situational awareness.
👀 Keep your head on a swivel.
📻 Monitor frequencies carefully.
📋 Review NOTAMs and airspace information before every flight.
✈️ Fly predictably and communicate clearly.

Let's help keep the skies safe during one of the world's biggest sporting events!

GO CANADA!
