Aiden is in the Indian Teacher Education Program at the University of Saskatchewan. He is a proud member of Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree Nation. Aiden’s passion for learning and understanding history, along with his experiences growing up in an urban setting, has ignited a commitment to educate students through a decolonized lens. He aims to empower learners to navigate and challenge the colonial structures that exist in society today. He’s dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and culturally relevant educational environment that guides students toward understanding their roles in society and encouraging them to take on key societal roles that reflect their traditional identities and values. We are honoured to award him with this bursary.

πŸ’΅πŸ“šπŸ† 2024 Eric Stonestand Memorial Post-Secondary Bursary Winner πŸ†πŸ“šπŸ’΅

Kerra is in the Saskatchewan Bachelor of Science in Nursing program through Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the University of Regina. She is a proud member of Peter Chapman Band and is the first member of her family to attend university. Kearra is in her last year of studies and her goal is to become a Registered Nurse and specialize in Mental Health and Psychiatric Care. Her motivation comes from the support of her parents, memory of her late mother, and passion to bridging the gap between mental health services and Indigenous communities providing culturally competent care that acknowledges and respects traditional practices. Her belief is that fostering a new generation of compassionate, culturally aware nurses is essential to creating a more inclusive and effective healthcare system. We are honoured to award her with this bursary.
