Ramolen Laruan pursues an interdisciplinary art practice involving painted and printed works, photography, film, and other media work. Her work focuses on the intermingling of cultures and its effects on the formation of self-identity and politics of belonging as one navigates the diaspora. Through exploring strategies of appropriation and censorship, Ramolen attempts at a new artistic language that reflects the rules and limitations of the society in which art is produced. Ramolen utilizes her intersectional position as an area of contention and productivity in understanding that ideas of belonging are in flux, constructing visual spaces that look to expand in all worlds of possibilities.
She is so excited to share her art and process of/to wokeness, leggo!
