Looking Back at a busy last month of school!

National AccessAbility Week - June 1-5, 2026

During National AccessAbility Week, our students had the opportunity to learn about accessibility, inclusion, and the importance of creating a community where everyone belongs.

Throughout the week:
🏐 Mr. Grimston's Grade 7/8 students taught Boccia Ball and Sitting Volleyball to classes during their Physical Education periods, giving students a chance to experience two Paralympic sports while learning about teamwork, adaptability, and inclusion.

📚 Students explored books and read-alouds that celebrated diverse abilities, helping spark meaningful conversations about empathy, acceptance, and respecting the unique strengths of every person.

💻 We also shared technology tips and explored how assistive technology can help remove barriers and support learning for everyone.

🚶 Our Kindergarten/Grade 1 students learned about Louis Braille and were able to see (and feel) for themselves what it is like to read in braille. They also participated in an Accessibility Walk, discovering how thoughtful design and accessible spaces help everyone feel welcome and included in our school community.

Thank you to everyone who helped make National AccessAbility Week a meaningful learning experience. Together, we continue to build a school where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Everyone belongs. Everyone can participate. Everyone matters.

Today we celebrate the people, communities, and traditions that make Canada such a special place to call home.

As we celebrate, we also recognize that Canada Day is an opportunity to reflect on our shared history and our ongoing journey toward truth, reconciliation, and building a more inclusive future for everyone.

At St. Thomas More Catholic School, we are grateful to be part of a country that values diversity, inclusion, compassion, and service to others. As we enjoy time with family and friends this summer, we also take a moment to reflect on the importance of kindness, respect, and working together to build strong and welcoming communities.

As another school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say thank you to our incredible St. Thomas More Catholic School community.

Thank you to our students for their enthusiasm, perseverance, kindness, and school spirit. You have filled our classrooms and hallways with laughter, learning, and countless memories throughout the year.

Thank you to our families for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support. Together, we have celebrated successes, overcome challenges, and helped our students grow in faith, knowledge, and confidence.

Thank you to our dedicated staff for the care, commitment, and passion you bring to our school each and every day. Your work makes a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

As summer begins, we hope everyone has the opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy time with family and friends. Thank you for being such an important part of our St. Thomas More community. We look forward to sharing a few more special moments from June in the days ahead!

🚒🔥 Yesterday, Kingston Fire & Rescue visited Kindergarten with their fire truck as a follow-up to our fire safety presentation! Students learned about the important tools and equipment used by firefighters and even had the exciting opportunity to climb up into the driver’s seat. To top it all off, each student received a KFR hat as a special souvenir!

At St. Thomas More Catholic School, we are called to be grateful for those who serve and protect our community, and to show appreciation for the gifts and talents they use to help others.

This morning, our graduating Grade 8 students enjoyed a special Grad Breakfast as we celebrated their time at St. Thomas More Catholic School and the exciting journey that lies ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to our Catholic School Council for generously providing the funds for the breakfast, and to the staff and teachers who volunteered their time to prepare and serve a delicious meal for our graduates.

Students enjoyed sharing memories while watching a photo slideshow featuring highlights from their years at St. Thomas More. The celebration concluded with our annual St. Thomas More Paper Plate Awards, a fun tradition where students and staff are recognized for the unique qualities, talents, and personalities that make our school community so special. There were plenty of laughs, smiles, and memorable moments as students and staff received their well-deserved Paper Plate Awards!

We are incredibly proud of our graduates and grateful for the many memories we have shared together. We wish them God's blessings as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journey. Congratulations, Grade 8s!

Happy Father's Day!

Today, we celebrate and give thanks for all of the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, guardians, and father figures who support, guide, encourage, and love the children in their lives.

Thank you for the many ways you help our students learn, grow, and thrive each day. Whether through words of encouragement, acts of kindness, shared adventures, or quiet moments of support, your presence makes a lasting difference.

We hope you enjoy a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, and special moments with family and friends.

🧪👐 Over the past two days, Kindergarten students have enjoyed exciting science and sensory exploration! They participated in hands-on experiments including magic milk, vinegar and baking soda balloons, elephant toothpaste, and magic handprints. They also explored sensory stations featuring slime, floam, modelling clay, Orbeez, the water table, and playdough. These experiences sparked curiosity, creativity, and plenty of joyful learning through play and discovery.

At St. Thomas More Catholic School, we are called to be curious learners, to explore God’s creation with wonder, and to use the gifts He has given us to discover and appreciate the world around us. ✝️💜
