Kingston Fall Fair

Congratulations to our past president, Yvonne Compton, who was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Kingston last night. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is one of Rotary’s highest honors. Established in 1957 to honor founder Paul Harris, it recognizes those who exemplify "Service Above Self". Recipients receive a certificate, pin, and a medallion. Yvonne retired this year after serving ten years as president of the Kingston District Agricultural Society, and we are happy to see this well-deserved recognition of her outstanding leadership and contributions to our community.

Last fall, independent film-maker Daryl Granger came to our fair (and many others throughout the summer) to document the people who put the entire midway show on the road every year. It's an inside look at "carny life", and our fair is featured, along with all our friends at World's Finest Shows! The film will make its Kingston debut next month at The Screening Room:

Tuesday May 12 at 5:30pm

An interesting volunteer opportunity!

Did you know that there's a Maple Syrup competition at the Kingston Fall Fair? It's part of the Culinary Arts competition, and this year's winner can go on to compete at District 3. District winners compete province-wide at the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (OAAS) convention next February. All you need is an unlabelled 250 ml bottle of your best to enter!
