My son and his friend were having a bonfire in the backyard at night. They live in Prince Edward County. All of a sudden they heard an animal screaming. A sound neither of them had heard before. When they turned on their cell phone flashlights they could see two eyes that were illuminated from a field beside them. At one point the eyes seemed like they were 6 or 7 feet tall. After my son looked online he determined it was a Cougar. He played the sound for me to hear it which I had never heard before. It is very eerie. We called the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, but they said they don't take Cougar sightings even though the web says they do.
Cougars (mountain lions) are confirmed to exist in Ontario, though they are highly elusive and rarely seen.

It was an excellent day for fishing, despite not catching any walleye. However, my son did successfully reel in a sizable bass. The season opener is just ten days away. š£šš
Consider these two techniques:
Target Shallows & Spawning Bays: During the early season, bass frequently inhabit areas near their spawning beds, sheltered shallow bays, rocky points, and w**d flats, which tend to warm more quickly.
Cover Ground: If you are not experiencing bites, avoid remaining in a single location. Efficiently cover the water to locate active fish.

Great organization CSSA to be a member of.
The Canadian Shooting Sports Association stands with responsible, law-abiding firearm owners across the country.
This week, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said it best:
āGun owners, protect your guns. Simple as that. Donāt ever give them away.ā
We appreciate Premier Fordās support for our community and his recognition of the importance of protecting law-abiding fi****ms owners. But we believe Ontario can go even further. Saskatchewan has already taken concrete steps to stand up for its responsible gun owners ā and we urge Premier Ford to follow that example and take real action to protect our rights in Ontario.
Letās keep advocating for fair policies that target crime, not honest Canadians. What are your thoughts? Share them below!

Hunting is about so much more than harvesting game. It teaches patience, responsibility, respect for nature, and appreciation for Godās creation. It provides healthy food for families, supports wildlife conservation through licensing and habitat programs, and creates unforgettable memories passed down through generations.
For many of us, time in the woods is where we find peace, fellowship, and a deeper connection with the outdoors. Hunting isnāt just a sport ā itās tradition, stewardship, and a way of life. šš¦

Apply to hunt antlerless deer:
Any Ontario resident, over 15 years old, with hunter accreditation on file, a valid Outdoors Card, and a Deer Licence may apply to the antlerless deer draw online, by phone or in person.
You can apply from March 1 to June 30, 2026. Results are available August 1.
Why should you apply for a Doe Tag?
1. More Success & Meat: Since there are usually more female deer than male, a tag means you're more likely to get one, keeping your freezer full, according to MeatEater Hunting.
2. More Options When Hunting: An antlerless tag lets you take a doe or fawn, or sometimes even a buck, giving you more choices out in the field.
3. Managing the Population: Taking does helps control the deer population, which is super important for a healthy environment. huntandfishontario.ca

Absolute waste of taxpayers $$$ AGAIN! š
Weāre not surprisedāand weāre not sorry.
Ottawaās gun confiscation scheme is crashing and burning, just as we predicted. After all the wasted money, all the political grandstanding, and all the empty promises, what do they have to show for it? A glitchy ādeclaration portalā and a pathetic 6.4% compliance rate. Even the police have said āno thanks.ā Canadians know a bad idea when they see one.
Prime Minister Carney and M.P. Nathalie Provost can keep refreshing that portal, but Canadians arenāt buying it. Law-abiding fi****ms owners arenāt playing alongāand why should they? This was never about public safety. It was always about scoring political points and punishing responsible citizens.
Weāre proud to see Canadians standing up for their rights and refusing to be bullied by a broken, unworkable program. This is proof that grassroots resistance works.
Keep speaking out. Keep pushing back. And letās keep showing Ottawa that we wonāt be walked over.
