These are just a few Black individuals who have lost their lives recently due to police brutality and institutionalized violence. We are horrified at the continued oppression and dehumanization of Black lives and communities. No one should ever have to live in fear of losing their lives because of the colour of the their skin.
We also wanted to highlight important educational resources, as well as places that you can support and donate to that are Canada/Ontario-based.

We stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and we ask that you look towards Black voices to understand how to make use of your privilege and begin to educate yourselves on the Black Lives Matter movement and the systemic racism seen towards Black individuals.
While it is important to show solidarity, QBAS urges our allies to do so in a way that will make a positive impact going forward. We are past the time of hashtags, we are pushing for action. Down below QBAS provides a link that will direct you to several websites where you can show support.
Educating oneself is the first step, visible action is the next. Instances of police brutality will continue as long as you remain a bystander. There are many more names that should be on this list… some known while unfortunately, countless others remain unknown. We urge our allies to use the privilege you are fortunate to have to help make a difference and prevent this list from growing.

Hi guys! As part of the Limestone District School Board's journey in collecting identity-based data next spring, they would like to consult with focus groups of high school students who identify as Indigenous, Racialized, LGBTQ2S+, and Persons with disabilities. As mentioned at the TCC meeting on Monday, the LDSB is interested in having Queen's TCs be a part of this process as table facilitators for the focus groups. This would be of big enough importance to them that TCs could include their participation in these focus groups in their resumes and future job applications. The focus groups are planned for Thursday, December 12 from 8:30am-12:30pm at Duncan MacArthur Hall (room to be confirmed).
If you are interested, and haven't filled out the form already, please fill out this Google form by Friday, December 6. From there, Suche (the Equity and Inclusion Consultant at LDSB) will be in touch for final details. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
