A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Early Childhood Educators, ECE assistants, cooks, and support staff! 💛 Your hard work, care, and dedication make Unity a place full of love, laughter, and learning. We are so proud to have such an incredible team shaping the lives of our little ones every day!

We encourage all parents to fill out this survey!!! The Municipal Government needs to hear that how desperately more childcare spaces are needed!

Take the Child Care & Early Years Service System Plan survey by Sept. 30 The City of Kingston plays a primary role in childcare and early years services in the City of Kingston and Frontenac County. In accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the City must develop a 5-Year Service Plan for licensed child care and early years

September can be a time of big transitions for families! Let's talk expectations for tonight. You might envision your child running into your arms for a big hug, and then happily telling you about their day.
This might not be how it goes. Kids have had a big day of learning, routine changes, new people and new expectations. They might be tired, overwhelmed, and grumpy!
My suggestion - feed them asap. Give them some space to unwind - free play, quiet snuggles, maybe outside time if they are up for it. An easy dinner. Be present without asking too many questions at first.

When the family you adore has to move on…

I once had a family in my care that I just absolutely loved. I had three of their children over the years, and we built something really special.

They were the kind of family that paid on time. Picked up on time. Respected every policy without question. But more than that, they showed me appreciation. All the time. And that means everything when you’re doing this kind of work.

We watched each other’s lives change. I watched their babies grow up. They trusted me year after year. And when it came time for them to move on… my heart broke a little.

Because this is the part of child care that no one really talks about. The relationships we build — the deep trust, the connection, the bond — it’s real. It’s family.

And when they leave, even for the best reasons, it hurts.
It’s a beautiful heartbreak.

And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 💛
