One year, today, since ma maman passed 💫
A year of the deepest grief I've experienced.
A year of missing her, her voice, her stories.
But my son has kept me moving forward.
She lives in me, and lives in him.
And she would be so proud to see him grow 💛
Merci ma belle maman 💕

○ the precious things ○
As I prepare to say goodbye to ma maman, while also being maman to my sweet son, I am taking time away from teaching...
My heart is full and achy, and I am facing the most precious, the most difficult and the most beautiful all at once ✨️
May you take care of yourself and your loved ones 💕 It is the most sacred of all on this journey 🙏
With warmth,
Rose

○ SOLSTICE PAUSE ○
If you've known me for a little while, you know that I take social media breaks every year at this time. I've debated whether or not I would do this again this year because it always feels great to cut down on screen time and examine the why and how of social media consumption.
But this past year, having been fully immersed in mothering land in a city that still feels new, I've often felt lonely, and I have to admit that connecting virtually to what feels like my "network" has been so helpful at times.
That said, I WILL set some better guidelines to my time spent here. The line can be fine between enjoyment and automatic mindless habit. And my little guy is always a great reminder that life is best lived fully present and engaged in the moment.
If you feel the need to dose your screen time, why don't you join me this summer!
From June 21 to August 21, here are a few ways I aim to practice
• No screen one hour after wake up and one hour before bedtime (that is, except a quick phone check to make sure no one has tried to reach me for emergency reasons)
• Visit social media page(s) twice a day only - most likely once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This means, I will be more purposeful with my time spent on there.
• Remove my social media app(s) from my phone, unless I choose to post content. (I haven't figured out a way to post stories from my laptop, otherwise I would never have it on my phone... any tips here?)
• Fill my time with things other than screen content. Books, crafts, time outdoor, play, meet ups, phone calls, music, radio...
• Put my phone away from arm reach. If it's not there, I'm less likely to grab it "just for a quick check"
• Notice what comes up! Is this challenging? Impossible? Really quite nice?
So, will you join me? How could look for you?

• SEASONS of PRACTICE •
This is what practice looks like over here now... and that is when I manage to pull out my mat, since most days, yoga is done whenever and wherever time/space allows!
This is the season of practice I now find myself in 💫
After navigating the shifts necessary during pregnancy, the shock of early postpartum recovery, the overwhelming sleep deprivation of the following months and the pure lack of personal time and space (otherwise known as motherhood 🤦♀️), I now find myself being able to step into my practice again...
Yet, I am in a different season of life too, with a body that has crafted and birthed life, that is continuing to provide nourishment to a growing little human, that continues to get up for night feeds and that is experiencing new aches and pains from holding, carrying, comforting and mothering in general...
But this season of practice has only made me fall even more in love with the versatility and sacredness of yoga, when we allow ourselves to shift along and cater to the different cycles of our lives 💫
And so, I'm excited to share practice again starting Saturday Studio330]
Join me in a SLOW FLOW exploration of movement, breath and presence 💕 Whether you've been practicing steadily, or maybe you are hoping to step back into it, I will offer you a container to meet yourself exactly where you are 🙏

The Gift of Nourishment 🥣
Very few things are as important to me as nourishment, both for me and my family, and for people I deeply care about. I guess I could say that food has become my love language over the years...
A dear local friend of mine just gave birth to her second child 💫 I made a point of putting together a meal train for her and her family, something I knew would be of great support to them...
And so I prepared this box of simple foods and postpartum products for them today, with so much joy and care! Lentil & vegetable stew, tahini fudge balls, pb & oats balls, herbal sitz bath and magic tincture 💕
Were you lucky enough to have a food network around you when you gave birth?
(My partner and I had just moved to the city a few months before our son was born- during lockdown of all times - so we didn't have the time needed to build our community. I know it would've been so very helpful then)

At the end of June, our life changed forever as we finally welcomed our son, born at home 💫
It's been a wild ride! Full of diaper changes, spit ups, colics and snuggles. Full of swaying, walking, eating with one hand and singing lullabies.
We've been learning lots, adjusting and trying our best to appreciate each moment... gosh do they grow so very quickly!
Until next time,
Rose

My yearly social media pause is here again!
An exercise I like to do regularly to return to the simpler way of life, and remember what living off the screen can be like...
Of course, summer this year will be extra special as we prepare ourselves to welcome our little sunshine earthside (any day now!). I want to take the time to soak it all up and adjust to our new family life...
But signing off social media for the summer seems a bit harder this year because it has been a way to stay connected to my Calgary community and other friends across the country. Please keep in touch in other ways if you can! Email, phone/text or contact me via my website (linked in my bio)...
I wish you a nourishing, inspiring and exciting summer 🍓🐦🌻🌊🌞🌊🌻🐦🍓
Take the very best care,
Rose
