A big thank you to Salt of the Earth Farm for donating fresh produce for this weeks summer food boxes!

This week’s boxes include a selection of fresh produce such as Swiss chard, cucumber, zucchini, carrots, lettuce and garlic scapes. Their generous donation helps us provide fresh, nutritious food to families throughout the summer!

We are so greatful! 💚🌱

Ontario invests just 9 cents per student, per day in Student Nutrition Programs, and that amount hasn't increased since 2014.

With 1 in 4 children in Ontario experiencing food insecurity, 9 cents simply isn't enough.

We believe .

Visit www.foodsharingproject.org/9-cents-is-nonsense/ to learn more and access a template letter to contact your local MPP and advocate for increased investment in Student Nutrition Programs.

Today, we celebrate Andy Mills, the man who turned “enough” into so much more at The Food Sharing Project. More food, more staff, more vans, more deliveries… and yes, more banana boxes than anyone thought possible. Thanks to Andy, more kids across KFL&A are nourished every day. Andy is retiring at the end of the summer, and we look forward to a sunny celebration today to wish him a very happy retirement. Congratulations, Andy - you’ve earned every minute of it!

Meet Audrey III! 🌱♻️

Our new FoodCycler at the Regi kitchen is helping us reduce food waste by transforming food scraps into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. 🌱
We named it Audrey III, after the famous plant Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors! In this example, about 3.5 litres of food scraps were transformed into just 1.5 cups of nutrient-rich material.

If you’ve ever wondered how we went from a few deliveries to a small fleet of vans and a mountain of banana boxes… the answer is Andy. Seven years of MORE — more food, more reach, more students supported. We’re so grateful for the heart and humour he brought to this work. Andy’s last day is August 14 and he will be missed. Enjoy retirement, Andy!
