They have family and friends that would like to see them return home safely at the end of the day... plus speeding fines are DOUBLED in a construction zone when workers are present.

We're relieved to hear that the construction worker struck by a vehicle on the 401 in Kingston this morning is being treated for minor injuries, and that the driver is facing a charge of carless driving causing bodily harm.

We want to see everyone return home safe at the end of their work day. Unfortunately, vehicle traffic poses a serious hazard to workers, especially on 400-series highways.

When you're working on a road construction site, remember to plan an emergency escape route at the beginning of each shift, or as you relocate throughout the worksite. Always stay alert to changing road conditions.

The KFL&A region has been issued a multi-day heat warning. Humidex Values are expected to reach as high as 45°C.

When working outdoors, wear loose, light-coloured clothes, stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight, and watch for signs of heat illnesses.
