๐ญ Hanan Zeineldin is a recent graduate of the Cultural Studies MA program, as well as an accomplished Egyptian multimedia artist, actor, and filmmaker, boasting over 15 years of expertise in the dynamic realm of art and culture. Her journey began with a dedication to performance and directing studies, both in her native Egypt and the United States. She has a distinguished background in theatre, film, and television.
In 2022, Hanan made a debut as a director with the thought-provoking short film ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ, tackling the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on human lives. This marked a pivotal moment in her artistic career as she seamlessly transitioned into the directorial sphere, bringing her unique perspective to pressing societal issues.
๐ Hanan is the holder of two Master of Arts degrees, each a testament to her commitment to continuous learning and exploration. Her first MA, in Educational Multimedia from California State Polytechnic University (2015), resulted in the creation of an interactive e-book, Further enriching her academic and artistic journey, Hanan earned her second MA in Cultural Studies from Queenโs University in 2023. Her graduation project, the autobiographical experimental documentary short film ๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฃ ๐๐ง๐๐, not only showcased her artistic finesse but also garnered acclaim, earning the Graduate Fellowship Award from the Cultural Studies program ๐.
๐ฝ๏ธ ๐๐ง๐ค๐ข ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐จ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐ฉ. ๐๐๐ฌ๐ง๐๐ฃ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง, Hananโs third film, continues her exploration of deeply human narratives. The documentary received grants, from Canada Council for Arts and Keys organization for new immigration. The film premiered at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival (KCFF), and achieved three sold-out screeningsโhighlighting both its critical and audience success. The short film is a documentary taking place in Kingston about Iraqi refugee Hisham, wheelchair-bound from war injuries, discovers a talent for string art while adapting to a new life with his three children. Amidst cultural challenges, he finds unexpected love and support from Manal, a Saudi Arabian scholar.
๐ Huge congratulations to Hanan on all of the success of her most recent film, and all her future successes!! ๐ฌ
