Our Parter in Hands In Her Pockets, Deaf Spirit Theatre is a pioneering theatre collective based in Kingston, who are dedicated to authentic ASL storytelling. They focus on creating and showcasing original works that highlight Deaf talent at both local and national festivals. They brought their talents to the TKFringe Festival, and FOLDA and they continue to enrich the cultural landscape of the arts in Kingston and Canada. This Collaboration with Theatre Kingston will prove to be in leap in ASL storytelling.

Award-winning composer (and Queen’s BMus graduate) Alexandra Petkovski will be visiting the Dan School of Drama and Music as well as the Queen’s Film and Media Department on March 3rd and 4th, 2026. Known as a producer, multi-instrumentalist, artist, and songwriter, Petkovski’s work defies genre, focusing on telling compelling stories. Her music is heard across platforms like Fortnite, SXSW, Disney+, TIFF, Blumhouse Productions, Netflix, and HBO. In addition to her composition work, she is a director on the Alliance for Women Film Composers board of directors, the secretary on the Executive leadership board for the Screen Composers Guild of Canada, and a proud standing voting member of the Recording Academy, BAFTA Connect, Television Academy, Society of Lyricists and Composers, World Soundtrack Awards.

The English Literature and Creative Writing Department Presents Dr. Kelsey Jacobson presenting Re-reading Realness on Stage: Theatre, Audiences, and Reception.
Kelsey Jacobson is an associate professor in the DAN School of Drama and Music, newly cross-appointed with the Department of English and Creative Writing. She is passionate about teaching and supervising and was awarded the Frank Knox Award for Teaching Excellence in 2021. She received her PhD from the University of Toronto and her MA from University of London where she also spent time working in Research and Higher Education at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, UK. Her SSHRC-funded research focuses on audience and spectatorship studies, and in particular on the ways in which audiences impact, receive, and make meaning through performance. She has expertise in, and teaches courses on, theatre histories, dramatic literature, and performance studies.
