Four Directions Indigenous Students Centre seeks to enhance the development and well-being of the Queen's University Indigenous Community. Four Directions welcomes and encourages all students to develop an awareness and appreciation of the Indigenous experience in Canada. October 4th is National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+).

In September of 2016, National Inquiry into MIssing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls officially commenced. The inquiry, which took three years, included 24 hearings and engaged 2386 participants, who shared family or personal stories. The end result was a compilation of 231 Calls to Justice for MMIWG2S+

It is 2026 and only TWO have been brought to completion.

It is important to remember our relations that our communities have lost.

In the Round Room at 4D, we will have a Faceless Dolls Display and a copy of the 231 Calls available for viewing, until end of day October 5th.

There are also educational links in the link in our bio, as well as emotional support resources - how to book with our Counsellor, live chats and hotlines.

If you love spooky season, Ness has just the project for you! Join them for 4D's monthly beading circle.
Ness will be here on Sunday, October 4th from 12:00-3:00pm, with this month's beading kit project - jack o lantern keychains 🎃

Whether you are an experienced beader, or want to learn, Ness will be on hand to help you out. If you are already working on your own project, our beading circles are BYOBP- friendly, bring your own beading project!

After the circle, remaining kits will be available for pick up - limited quantities available!

Hannah is all settled in now and is able to start seeing students starting tomorrow onward. For this semester, Hannah will be offering counselling appointments in person Monday-Wednesday, and able to meet with students remotely on Thursdays and Fridays.

Did you know that Queen's University has one application for all of the bursaries available through the university, for students demonstrating financial need? Did you know that of all the bursaries available, there are several dedicated for Indigenous students?

The Queen's General Bursary application window closes October 31st, but Violet from Financial Aid & Awards will be at 4D on October 6th from 11am-1pm to help you out with completing the application. Bring your device, enjoy refreshments and apply for funding together!

Attendees are entered into a draw for a $25 gift card of your choosing!
