The situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has forced a huge change in the functioning of our lives and the Portuguese School of Kingston is no exception.
We would like to know the interest of the population of Kingston in taking Portuguese classes again.
For this reason, we need to be aware of the level of interest in Portuguese classes for children and young people and/or adults. To this end, we ask you to fill in a questionnaire, so that we can get an idea of the possible number of students:

Please note that your response is important to us. We, therefore, ask for a timely response to inquiries so that we can eventually provide more information on how we will proceed this year.
We would like to remind you the structure of our three children's classes that we were able to offer in previous years:
- Early-School Class: 4-6 years old (junior kindergarten to grade 1)
- Junior Elementary Class: 7-10 years old (grades 2-5)
- Senior Elementary Class: 11-14 years old (grades 6-8)

2022/2023 School-year Questionnaire This questionnaire is a needs assessment to take into account in relation to the decision to resume in-person Portuguese classes at the Kingston Portuguese School.

A situação causada pela pandemia do COVID-19 tem obrigado a uma alteração enorme ao funcionamento da nossa vida e a Escola Portuguesa de Kingston não é excepção.
Gostaríamos de saber do interesse da população de Kingston em voltar a ter aulas de português.
Por esse motivo, precisamos de ter noção do nível de interesse em aulas de português para crianças e jovens e/ou adultos. Para tal, pedimos que preencham um questionário para nós termos uma ideia do possível número de alunos:

Por favor, tenha em consideração que a sua resposta é importante para nós. Pedimos por isso uma resposta atempada aos inquéritos para podermos eventualmente dar mais informações de como iremos proceder este ano.
Relembramos a estrutura das nossas três turmas para crianças e jovens que foi possível oferecer em anos anteriores:
- escolaridade inicial: dos 4 aos 6 anos (Junior Kindergarten ao 1º ano)
- elementar júnior dos 7 aos 10 anos (dos 2º ao 5º ano)
- elementar sénior dos 11 aos 14 anos (dos 6º ao 8º ano)

Questionário Ano Escolar 2022/2023 Este questionário é um levantamento de necessidades para ter em conta em relação à decisão de voltar a haver aulas de Português presenciais na Escola Portuguesa de Kingston.

We hope you are all well and healthy in this new school-year in this COVID-19 pandemic.
We would like to inform you that, unfortunately, the Kingston Portuguese School will not be able to provide instruction for classes online this school-year. Therefore, classes at our school will be suspended in the current academic 2020/2021 school-year.
However, with the collaboration of the Coordination of Portuguese Teaching in Canada, we were given the possibility to have our students join online classes at the Luís de Camões Portuguese Language and Culture School in Ottawa (https://www.facebook.com/escolaportuguesaluisdecamoesottawa) of the Conseil des Écoles Catholiques Centre-East (CECCE) school board, to which we were linked in the past. We would like to thank the kindness of the School coordinator in accepting our students into their online classrooms.

Esperamos que estejam todos bem e de saúde neste novo ano escolar em plena pandemia COVID-19.
Vimos por este meio informar que, infelizmente, a Escola Portuguesa de Kingston não poderá proporcionar instrução de aulas online neste ano escolar. Sendo assim, as aulas na nossa escola serão suspensas no actual ano lectivo de 2020/2021.
Não obstante, com a colaboração da Coordenação do Ensino de Português no Canadá, foi-nos dada a possibilidade de ingressar os nossos alunos nas aulas online da Escola de Língua e Cultura Portuguesas Luís de Camões em Otava (https://www.facebook.com/escolaportuguesaluisdecamoesottawa) do quadro de escolas do Conseil des Écoles Catholiques Centre-East (CECCE), ao qual já estivemos ligado no passado. Gostaríamos de agradecer a amabilidade da coordenadora da Escola ao aceitar os nossos alunos das suas aulas online.

End-of-Year Message
Due to COVID-19, all classes in the province of Ontario were suspended in March and we have recently received information that we will not be going back to school this school-year. It has been a time of great uncertainty and doubt regarding the next steps, and it is for this reason that we have not been able to contact you with any information regarding our classes. However, we can now inform you that there will be no more classes and that this school year is concluded.
Following the uncertainty that COVID-19 requires, there are also uncertainties regarding the new school year 2020/2021, which may/would start in September 2020. We don't know whether schools will open; if they open, we don't know if the classes will be in person or online; if they are online, we don't know if the Limestone District School Board will be able to provide online classes to the International Language Program, to which our school is affiliated. As soon as we know more information, we will immediately announce it in the hopes of being able to offer classes of Portuguese language and culture to the community of Kingston.
For the time being, there will be no registrations for the next academic year, given all of these incertainties, but we ask you to let us know by email or in a message your preferences about the possibility of classes in the next academic year: if you prefer only face-to-face classes, or if you are available for online classes.

Mensagem de Final de Ano
Devido ao COVID-19, todas as aulas na província de Ontário foram suspensas em Março e recebemos recentemente a informação de que não voltaremos à escola neste ano escolar.
Tem sido uma altura de grande indefinição e dúvida em relação aos passos seguintes, e é por essa razão que não nos tem sido possível contactar com qualquer informação relativamente às nossas aulas. Não obstante, podemos informar agora que não haverá mais aulas e que este ano escolar encontra-se concluído.
Na sequência da indefinição a que a COVID-19 obriga, também há incertezas em relação ao novo ano escolar de 2020/2021 que iniciaria em Setembro de 2020. Não sabemos se as escolas vão abrir; se abrirem, não sabemos se as aulas serão presenciais ou online; se forem online, não sabemos se o Quadro de Escolas do Limestone District irá poder proporcionar aulas online ao Programa de Línguas Internacionais, no qual a nossa escola se insere. Logo que soubermos mais informação, daremos imediatamente a conhecer na expectativa de podermos oferecer o ensino de língua e cultura portuguesa à comunidade de Kingston.
Para já, não vai haver inscrições para o próximo ano lectivo, dadas todas estas indefinições, mas peço que nos dêem a conhecer por email ou por mensagem as vossas preferências, caso haja possibilidade de aulas no próximo ano lectivo: se preferem apenas aulas presenciais, ou se estão disponíveis para aulas online.

As determined by our school calendar, we would like to remind the school community that there will be no classes on the next two weekends, 14 and 21 March, due to the stoppage for March Break.
Classes will resume on Saturday, 28 March.
