🤝 Phone-free schools open opportunities for authentic, in-person connection that are good for the soul.
Phone-Free Schools Movement

Alone time can be a normal and healthy part of teenage life, but new research is challenging assumptions about how much is too much. As daily face-to-face time with friends declines, brain imaging studies are finding links between lower in-person socialization during adolescence and differences in brain development. Now, with so much left to learn, experts are beginning to question what consequences this may have into adulthood.

We have waited far too long to protect our kids online. We can't afford to wait.

Our children don’t have to wait years for Canadian laws that protect them online.

In Australia, it took just 20 days to pass a world-first law setting a minimum age for social media.

That speed was driven by parents acting together and a clear consensus: kids need stronger online protections.

Many parents feel like they’re the only ones struggling with this. They’re not. Across countries, communities, and political lines, parents are reaching the same conclusion.

After our advocacy visit to Ottawa, one Senator told us:

“Parents are typically too busy and the least engaged. We’ve never seen a grassroots movement quite like this.”

What could make a massive difference in preventing exposure to harmful content, especially explicit material?
‼️ Parents and educators, this matters.
✅ Delaying social media access for kids until at least 16
✅ Enforcing bell-to-bell, away-for-the-day phone policies in schools
✅ Investing in robust digital literacy programs

Drugs aren’t just “a phase.”
They’re the biggest voluntary battle your kids will ever face.

👉 Once kids choose drugs, most spend the rest of their lives trying to convince themselves they’re in control.
👉 Others spend their lives chained to an addiction that steals their money, their friends, and their family.

💨 The #1 gateway drug you need to worry about right now? VA**NG.

✔️ V**e companies & social media spend millions to hook your kids.
✔️ There are 100 ways for your child to get a v**e — at school, online, in your own neighborhood.
✔️ Once they start, ni****ne isn’t the end. It’s the beginning. Cigarettes… and sometimes even harder drugs hidden in v**e pens.

One “harmless puff” can turn into a lifelong fight your child may never win.

⚠️ Talk to your kids NOW. Drugs. Alcohol. To***co. These aren’t small decisions — they’re life-changing choices with consequences that can last forever.

Collective action to improve youth wellness 💪

From :

"The four norms I have proposed cost almost nothing to implement, they cause no clear harm to anyone, and while they could be supported by new legislation, they can be instilled even without it.

We can begin implementing all of them right away, this year, especially in communities with good cooperation between schools and parents.

A single memo from a principal asking parents to delay smartphones and social media, in support of the school's effort to improve mental health by going phone-free, would catalyze collective action and reset the community's norms.

We didn't know what we were doing in the early 2010s. Now we do. It's time to end the phone-based childhood."

Let's give our kids their childhood back ✨️.
