Imagine being prescribed music as pain medication. New research from McGill University suggests this could become a reality one day.

Drs. Roy and Palmer found that music matching the tempo of a patient’s internal rhythm has the potential to relieve chronic pain. Music as medicine is a low-cost intervention with no negative side effects.

This discovery could be a big relief for the approximately 20% of Canadians experiencing chronic pain.

Our Spring Recital was amazing! 🤩 So proud of all of my piano students for their wonderful performances. It was such a treat to watch them all shine yesterday! Please post any videos taken so we can all re-watch and enjoy again. :)

Blake enjoyed the music in the unicorn book we just completed, and is excited to be learning new techniques in the next level. We picked a piano book about dragons to tackle next, and she made quick work of the first song including rests, tonic and dominant and stacked notes. This kid is going places! 🥰 Next week we will be starting a Taylor Swift song. But shhhhh don’t tell her, it’s a surprise. 😆

Sometimes it’s just all about the piano games! Rowan was thrilled to beat me in a race-type game naming ledger line notes in the middle of the staff. I guess I better practice for next time! I want a rematch Rowan! 😅

Cylus never fails to make me laugh and smile each week and he is always filled with surprises and fun facts to share. I told him it was his turn to “be the teacher” for an activity and I went to grab something, turned around and had to catch a photo of how at-home he looks in my chair. Now… I swear I don’t get quite this comfortable when I’m teaching 😂. I love that my students aren’t afraid to be themselves.

Adi has done it again! Another piano book completed! We are already digging in to her next book and learning new techniques and fun music. She is tackling new challenges like a pro. Congratulations Adi!

Mae has grown so much in her confidence since the summer. It has shown in her progress and when she finished her piano book this week, we took a little jump to a fun unicorn book. Keep up the great practising Mae, you’re doing great. 😊

So true though. The fact that it took so much work to create, meant you were very selective as to which songs would make it on the tape. Unlike playlists nowadays where you can add pretty much as much as you want… it gets messy after a while!

I think I found my future retirement village! 🤭😆
