Hello grad students! The DBMS Graduate Student Council (GSC) is excited to kick off the Annual Door Decorating Contest of this year! All labs are invited to showcase their creativity by decorating their doors in a holiday-inspired theme. Prizes and bragging rights are up for grabs!

Submission deadline is December 4th at 4pm.

Each lab may decorate multiple doors. Though, labs are limited to submitting one door for judging, with up to 3 photos per lab. Please submit the photos using the Google Format sent to you by email email.

Voting will begin on Friday, December 6th to determine our three finalists, who will compete for first place at the DBMS Holiday Party on Friday, December 13th!
Information about the voting process will be sent out next week.

The DBMS Graduate Student Council is excited to invite you to a Karaoke and Games Night to welcome new grad students and kick off the new academic year! Join us on Thursday, September 26th at 8pm at The Mansion in Kingston for a night of fun, music, and games!

This event serves as an opportunity to unwind, showcase your singing skills, and connect with fellow grad students and professors in the department. Whether you’re looking to meet new people, build friendships, or just have a great time, this social offers it all!

Come for the music, stay for the fun, and leave with great memories and some cool prizes!

The GSC is happy to announce that the Annual DBMS Holiday Party will take place on Monday, December 11th from 7pm-11pm at The Grizzly Grill in Kingston! Finger food will be served, and a bar is located onsite. Semi-formal attire is encouraged!

During the event, a number of games will be played, including pool, with prizes up for grabs! Additionally, the winners of the DBMS Door Decorating Contest will be announced!

Tickets will be available for purchase starting Thursday, November 30th until Wednesday, December 6th. Tickets must be presented at the event for proof of purchase.

Please see further information regarding ticket sales in the lobby of Botterell Hall within the attached image!

Tickets may also be purchased anytime between 9am-11:00am and 1:30pm-3:00pm from Kat or Heather in the DBMS Administration Office on the 5th floor of Botterell Hall starting on Thursday, November 30th until Wednesday, December 6th.

Are you interested in applying to CGS-M, CGS-D or Vanier?

This is your reminder to come have your application reviewed/edited by a faculty member!!

To participate you must submit a partial or full draft of your application to our submission box by 12pm on September 26th. You will be paired with experienced faculty members who will review your application before the workshop on October 3rd. On this date, you will meet with each faculty member for 20 mins (between 12-1pm) where you will discuss their suggestions and any questions you may have.

Only those who have registered will be sent a link to the submission box and given an appointment time.

Life Sciences Career Expo 2022 Life Sciences Career Expo (LSCE) is a three day, multi-university careers conference, educating the next generation of trainees about the diverse careers in the life sciences sector.

The DBMS GSC would like to congratulate Aline, an MSc student in Dr. Charles Graham's lab, on receiving an award from the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research for her outstanding work in bladder cancer. Congratulations on this great achievement, Aline!
