Stella ter Hart / Composer, Arranger, Director, Adjudicator
Ever since I was a little girl I've been playing, writing and arranging music. My style is lyrical with folksong influences and the occasional modern twist!
I compose mainly choral and chamber works - my two choirs are routinely subjected to new works!

My original composition for SATB choir and piano, "A Voice in the World," will receive its US premiere at the Michigan Choral Lab's Songs of Protest concerts on February 7 at Fountain St. Church in Grand Rapids, MI at 4pm and February 8 at First Congregational Church in Rockford, MI at 4pm. I'm thrilled for my work to have been chosen from submissions received around the world for this very special concert theme. Music has the power for change!

I recently had the great privilege of adjudicating composition and choir classes at the Halifax Kiwanis Music Festival, and piano, composition and choir classes at the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival. I am always awed and humbled by the incredible talent and dedication of young students at these Festivals. The army of volunteers and supporters needed to keep the Festivals going is mind-boggling. Congratulations to all the students, teachers, parents and volunteers! A great time was had by all!

Just in time for Christmas, here's a sweet arrangement of Away in a Manger for SSAA/piano/oboe. Both of the two well-known tunes are intricately combined throughout. This sound file uses woodwinds for the voices. My own Frontenac Women's Chorus will be premiering it on November 30th.
