The Country Day School (King City, Ontario)

The Country Day School (King City, Ontario) Welcome to the official page of The Country Day School, a co-ed independent school serving JK-12 in King, Ontario. www.cds.on.ca Our School. Our Past.

The Country Day School (CDS) is a university-preparatory, non-denominational school for boys and girls (JK-12). At our school, learning, integrity, and the development of purpose are highly valued. CDS is situated on a beautiful 100-acre campus in the heart of King Township, just north of Toronto. If you were to visit, you would find that the CDS community is dynamic, friendly, down-to-earth and involved. Our mandate is to equip students with what they need to make their way in the world with success. To this end, we offer a superior, balanced education that challenges the student, develops the mind and strengthens the character. The campus has outstanding athletics facilities, a state-of-the-art performing arts centre and leading-edge technology – all of which enhance our ability to educate in innovative ways. The Country Day School was founded in 1972 by a group of parents who were determined to create a school for their children that would promote the values of integrity, life-long learning and purpose. With this idea, and the founding philosophy to guide them, The Country Day School was born. CDS has since provided an educational experience for literally thousands of students that is second-to-none. During that first school year, the population of 47 elementary students attended classes in the former Eversley Schoolhouse (Est. 1883), a building which remains a part of our campus to this day. The school enrolment has reached approximately 700 students and the original schoolhouse serves as the Junior School Library and resource centre. In 2004, a beautiful mural was painted and unveiled to mark the 120th anniversary of the schoolhouse’s construction. The group of founding parents had a dream of what a school should be. While much has changed since the days of the one-room schoolhouse, the founding philosophy of instilling the values of integrity, lifelong learning and the development of individual purpose in each and every student still holds true.

“When you go through a change, you don't lose anything you loved. You get to bring all of your favourite memories and everything you've learned along the way right into your new adventure.”

💙 Today, our Junior School community gathered in the theatre for our very first assembly of the school year—and our official welcome to our new Director of the Junior School, Ms. Rheanne Stevens!

Ms. Stevens shared a heartwarming reflection about transitioning across the country from British Columbia to King City, reminding our students that while new beginnings can feel big, they are also filled with sweet moments, fresh friendships, and exciting possibilities. She challenged our students with three promises for the year ahead: Stay Curious, Be Brave, and Choose Kindness.

Following her warm welcome, the energy in the room skyrocketed with our first House games of the year featuring our JS faculty, plus setup and excitement for Friday’s Terry Fox Run! We also celebrated Ms. Witten taking a new position.

Welcome to the CDS Family, Ms. Stevens—we are so glad you’re here. 🌲✨

It was wonderful to welcome so many enthusiastic new students to campus today for Orientation Day!
Our Grade 9s got a head start navigating the Senior School with their awesome LINK Crew mentors, while students across all divisions bonded over icebreakers, homeroom sessions and lunchtime laughs.️

It was a whirlwind of a day, but our newest students are officially ready for tomorrow. Still figuring out where to go? Just look for a faculty member, staff, or a LINK Crew mentor in a royal blue golf shirt—they are always happy to help! 👕💙

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in the morning for the official first day of school! 🏫👋
