Alpine Hockey

Hello Alpine Hockey families.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are not going to be able to open registration for our 2026 hockey school at this time. We just found out that the Civic Centre in Kimberley is not scheduled to open until mid-September. Here is a link to the city press release: https://www.kimberley.ca/news/ice-plant-replacement-project-20262027-season-start-update. If something changes, we will let you know. We are obviously very disappointed about this and want to thank you for your loyalty to our camp. We will be back in business for the summer of 2027!

Thank you and good luck to all the U13 hopefuls at Avalanche camp this weekend. Great few weeks of ice times capping what was hopefully an awesome summer!

What a week we had last week! It’s so gratifying for our instructors and counsellors to get to work and play with all the players from the Freshmen all the way to the players heading to junior camps. Swipe for a fun little photo of a couple of counsellors from yesteryear. See you at the rinks!

Fun Friday at camp included afternoon scrimmages leading us to tomorrow’s main event… Championship Saturday! Shoutouts to Friday’s Beasts: Freshman Eli F, Junior Theo, and Senior Jackson! Well done! See you tomorrow for the big games!

Big Austin stepped up into the goalie position for our junior group today with some help from KMH for gear. The helmet could tell some stories though! Worn in 2006 WJHC in Vancouver by goaltender Justin Pogge where Team Canada earned the gold, went in for repairs to a sports store in the Okanagan where a fire occurred, was auctioned off for insurance and finally landed on Austin’s dome today! Love those hockey stories!

Couple of things we learned from a fun Wednesday… puck protection, passing, defending, and the players (and instructors) still love the photo bomb! 💣 Shoutout to our Beasts of the Day: Knox in Freshmen, Grayson in Junior, and Tae in the Senior group!

Day 2 ✅ at Alpine Hockey School 2025! Special Tuesday Beast recognition to Bohden the Freshie, Kai the Junior, and Chance the Senior! Well done to all. Hit the sheets and then the ice again tomorrow!

Day One is in the books and what a start! Beasts of the day include Huck for the Freshmen, Sawyer for the Juniors and Hudson for the Seniors. U15s had a tight checking session this afternoon and the U18/Juniors are keyed up for a great session at the Bancks Skate tonight.

Optional registration night 6-7 at the Civic tonight and camp rolls in the morning! Welcome to come down and meet the AH counsellors and instructors!
